Cane Corso Reportedly Found Emaciated and With Bones Protruding Deserves Justice

Target: Margaret E. Kelley, State’s Attorney for the Ansonia–Milford Judicial District, Connecticut

Goal: Seek the maximum lawful sentence, lifetime animal-ownership ban, mental-health evaluation, and full restitution after a Cane Corso was reportedly found emaciated with spine, hips, and ribs protruding.

Authorities reportedly responded to a Seymour residence and found a Cane Corso so thin that the dog’s spine, hips, and ribs were visibly protruding. As reported by police, the animal required life-saving hospitalization at a specialty facility. A man was arrested and is charged after investigators determined he was responsible for the dog’s condition. Officials say the dog is improving, yet the alleged neglect is severe.

Reports further indicate the dog needed five days of emergency care with substantial costs. The investigation began with a welfare call, and responding officers said the animal’s condition warranted immediate transfer for intensive treatment. Police also stated the accused was held on bond following the arrest.

Cases like this allegedly involve prolonged suffering. Strong sentencing paired with targeted restrictions can deter future offenses and protect vulnerable animals. This petition urges prosecutors to seek the longest lawful sentence, a permanent prohibition on owning or controlling animals, mandatory counseling, compliance checks, and full restitution for veterinary and shelter costs.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear State’s Attorney Kelley,

We respectfully urge your office to pursue the strongest permissible penalties in the case where a Cane Corso was allegedly found emaciated with spine, hips, and ribs protruding and required life-saving hospitalization. According to police statements and veterinary reports, the animal’s condition suggested prolonged suffering that merits a firm prosecutorial response.

Given these allegations, we ask that you seek the maximum lawful sentence, a lifetime ban on owning or controlling animals, mandatory mental-health evaluation and treatment, close compliance monitoring, and full restitution for veterinary and shelter expenses. These measures would protect public safety and animal welfare while ensuring that the financial burden of care is not shifted to taxpayers or charities.

A visible, decisive outcome in this reportedly severe case can deter similar cruelty, protect future animals, and reinforce community confidence that serious neglect and abuse will face serious consequences. Thank you for your continued commitment to justice for victims who cannot speak for themselves.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
