Abandoned Duck Killed by Blow Dart Deserves Justice

Target: Sim Gill, District Attorney for Salt Lake County, Utah

Goal: Identify and prosecute perpetrators of blow dart assault against duck to fullest extent.

A domestic duck in Utah was the victim of two separate acts of animal cruelty. The first occurred when someone abandoned the animal at a lake. Since the duck is believed to be a domesticated pet, the animal would have had trouble surviving in the wild. But a presumed different person cruelly ended all speculation about the duck’s fate.

Someone discovered the duck badly injured from a blow dart to the head. When the animal was taken to a veterinarian – with the blow dart still protruding – for evaluation, a report confirmed the weapon had nearly pierced the duck’s trachea. Tragically, the injured duck was euthanized as a result.

A police investigation is ongoing. Sign the petition below to demand prosecutors hold all involved parties fully accountable once suspects are identified.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear DA Gill,

A tragic consequence of animal abandonment unfolded at Spring Lake, where a domesticated duck was found suffering from a severe blow dart injury. This animal lost its life because of twin acts of cruelty. If the police investigation yields viable suspects for the abandonment or the blow dart attack, please pursue maximum charges.

Send the community a decisive message than any form of animal abuse will not be tolerated.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
