Seek Justice for Dogs Reportedly Kept in 100-Degree Rooms

Target: Jennifer Buckley, Acting District Attorney, Saratoga County, New York

Goal: Pursue maximum lawful penalties, lifetime animal-ownership bans, and full restitution after a shelter operator allegedly kept dogs in rooms over 100 degrees and a French bulldog reportedly died from heat exposure.

Authorities reportedly found dozens of neglected dogs at a now-closed operation after complaints about extreme heat and poor care. Case filings say one French bulldog succumbed to heat exposure and other animals were kept in stifling rooms that surpassed 100 degrees. The remaining animals have been adopted, yet the suffering described demands a firm response that deters repeat harm.

High heat can kill fast. Dogs confined in airless rooms face organ failure, seizures, and panic. When animals are left without rapid relief, the line from distress to death can be short. County leaders have highlighted rising abuse cases this summer, which underscores the need for strong prosecution, lifetime ownership bans, and use of the county’s new animal-abuser registry upon conviction.

Justice should include penalties that match the cruelty alleged here. Sign below to demand courts impose meaningful sentences, no-contact orders for animals, and restitution that repays the costs of emergency care, boarding, and treatment. Transparent outcomes also build public trust and support for inspections that keep kennels safe.

PETITION LETTER:

Acting District Attorney Buckley,

Reports describe a shuttered facility where dogs were confined in rooms exceeding 100 degrees and a French bulldog reportedly died from heat exposure. Community members stepped in to place survivors, yet the suffering outlined in affidavits calls for a decisive response.

We respectfully urge your office to pursue every appropriate charge supported by the evidence and seek maximum lawful penalties at disposition. Please request lifetime bans on owning, keeping, breeding, or supervising animals, along with placement on the county’s animal-abuser registry upon conviction as required by law. We further ask for restitution covering veterinary care, boarding, and agency costs, plus unannounced compliance checks tied to any supervision.

A clear, firm outcome will protect animals across Saratoga County and show that suspected cruelty meets serious consequence.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
