Dog Apparently Hung from Tree and Beaten: Demand Maximum Penalty

Target: Thomas Bakkedahl, State Attorney, 19th Judicial Circuit, Florida

Goal: Secure consecutive maximum sentences, lifetime prohibition on animal ownership, restitution, and mandatory counseling for the individual who allegedly hung a dog from a tree and struck the animal repeatedly with a stick in front of witnesses.

A disturbing report describes a dog suspended from a backyard tree while its guardian beat the helpless animal with a stick. A woman at the scene reportedly intervened and was choked for confronting the suspect. A child present allegedly corroborated the violence. Deputies reportedly found a noose in the yard and transferred multiple dogs to county animal control for safety.

Officials stated the dog bore visible trauma, and the suspect now faces charges of animal cruelty, domestic battery by strangulation, and child abuse. The reported brutality—hanging, repeated blows, and terrorizing witnesses—seemingly illustrates calculated cruelty and a clear danger to animals and people alike.

Robust prosecution is critical. Sign below to demand consecutive maximum jail terms on each count, restitution for veterinary and shelter costs, a permanent ban on owning or keeping animals, and court-ordered counseling to affirm that deliberate torture of a companion animal meets serious, lasting consequences. Anything less risks future violence.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear State Attorney Bakkedahl,

A recent case reportedly involves a man who hanged his dog from a tree and beat the animal with a stick. A woman who protested was allegedly choked, and a child witnessed the entire episode. Deputies reportedly found a noose in the yard and removed multiple dogs for protection. These allegations depict calculated torture of a defenseless pet, paired with violence against people who tried to intervene.

We respectfully urge your office to pursue the highest penalties allowed for each charge, seek consecutive sentencing, and request full restitution for veterinary care, sheltering, and rehabilitation of the seized dogs. Please also pursue a lifetime ban on owning or handling animals and require mandatory psychological counseling or anger-management treatment as part of any conviction or plea.

A strong prosecutorial stance will honor the suffering seemingly endured by this dog, safeguard the community, and send a clear message that animal torture and associated domestic violence will not be tolerated in the 19th Judicial Circuit.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
