Moments later, according to reports, children discovered Kaalu’s broken body on the ground; and despite emergency care, she succumbed to multiple traumatic injuries.
The cat’s guardians, already devastated, allegedly faced initial resistance in obtaining the crucial video evidence. Once recovered, the footage purportedly confirmed that the fatal fall was no accident but an intentional act. Police have now registered a case under Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, yet meaningful justice will depend on a determined prosecution and strong sentencing.
Violent acts toward animals are widely recognized as potential precursors to violence against people. A clear, uncompromising response is essential both to honour Kaalu’s memory and to deter brutality.
