Rescued from a home in Cumberland County, Tennessee, he was reportedly found in such dire conditions that he was unable to stand, weighed only 17 pounds, and suffered from severe dehydration, worms, and injuries to his ears. This poor dog, along with other animals discovered in the same home, allegedly lived in a filth-ridden environment, deprived of basic needs like food and water, which led to what the sheriff’s office described as a shocking pattern of long-term neglect.
In a welfare check conducted on January 17, 2024, distressing sounds were reportedly heard from within the residence on Breckenridge Drive, prompting intervention by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and animal control. According to reports, the neglect documented in this case was so severe that Zeus’s body temperature was a dangerously low 90.6 degrees Fahrenheit when found. Despite these unimaginable circumstances, Zeus defied the odds and has made a remarkable recovery, now healthy and looking for a forever home. However, the person allegedly responsible for his suffering, Amber Cheyann Bruce, was given only 11 months and 29 days of supervised probation after pleading guilty to animal cruelty, which many deem insufficient given the severity of the case.
Prompting justice against animal cruelty is crucial to ensure that such alleged horrid neglect never happens again. The community must demand that authorities take this matter seriously and impose appropriate penalties that fit the severity of the crime. We need to ensure that those who neglect and harm animals face significant consequences for their actions, to protect innocent lives like Zeus and to send a strong message that animal cruelty will not be tolerated.

Zeus, a rescued husky mix, is a living testament to the horrors of animal neglect that allegedly occurred in Cumberland County. Reportedly found in a state of severe malnutrition, weighing only 17 pounds, and suffering from life-threatening conditions, Zeus seems to have endured unimaginable suffering due to the neglect of Amber Cheyann Bruce. He was reportedly discovered in a filthy environment devoid of food and water, alongside other animals in dire straits. The charges brought against Bruce resulted in only a plea that led to a mere probation sentence, which does not reflect the gravity of the wrongdoing or the pain inflicted on these defenseless animals.

If this person was living in these conditions she needs considerable psychological therapy as well as punishment. There should be Mandatory counseling and a significant sentence of community service in addition to the incarceration. Not sure why I bother writing, since I doubt anyone in the prosecutor’s office or court will read it.
I hate the idea of mandatory counseling. Why should tax payers pay for these people to get off with what they do. Mandatory counseling will only encourage more people to commit these horrendous crimes. They know what they are doing and just don’t care. Prosecute them and get rid of these stupid judges who’s rulings make matters worse.

She probably weighs 300 lbs. Poor dog and others. Hope they all find good homes. No animal deserves this type of treatment. They should start giving out punishment that fits the crime. Like no food or water for them for 3 months. Have to go to the bathroom where ever they sleep. Put them in a cage.
