Target: Jacob Putman, District Attorney of Smith County, Texas

Goal: Pursue full legal penalties against those reportedly responsible for starving over two dozen animals into malnourishment.

A so-called rescue was apparently discovered harboring 24 dogs and 3 cats in a state of severe malnutrition. Many of these animals reportedly had very low body scores and were emaciated, as if they had been systematically denied proper nutrition. The owner was given a chance to secure critical medical care and vaccinations for the animals, yet, according to accounts, most did not receive the attention they needed.

The severity of this alleged neglect is underscored by reports of widespread starvation and compromised health. Despite expectations that a rescue or sanctuary should serve as a haven for vulnerable beings, these dogs and cats were apparently forced to endure harsh and unsafe conditions. Authorities seized the animals for their own protection, suggesting that the reported living environment posed a direct threat to their well-being.

Any individual or operation that purportedly subjects animals to such deplorable suffering should face stern repercussions. Swift prosecution and strict sentencing are vital to preventing further acts of cruelty against defenseless pets. Sign below and demand meaningful legal action in this case.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Attorney Jacob Putman,

Nearly 30 animals were reportedly rescued from a shelter accused of subjecting them to severe malnourishment. Multiple dogs and cats apparently showed the physical signs of prolonged starvation, including dangerously low body scores. Such alleged cruelty not only denies these living beings basic care, but it also demonstrates a grave breach of trust from an entity expected to protect and nurture them.

Despite being advised to seek urgent veterinary attention, the reported primary caretaker apparently neglected to do so for most of the animals. The fact that authorities felt compelled to seize these animals indicates the severity of their predicament and the immediate threat to their health and safety.

We implore you to pursue all appropriate charges in this case and to seek the full measure of accountability under the law for any individual who is found responsible. Please help send a decisive message that disregard for animal well-being will not be tolerated.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

Texas, who would’ve guessed? Everyone, Texas is a horrible place to live if you’re not cattle. This is just one instance of so many, Texas needs to try (just try!) to enhance aniaml welfare laws and then enforce them. I’d ask: how hard could it be? But with their record I guess the answer is impossible.
