Target: Jamie L. Dykes, Interim State’s Attorney, Wicomico County, Maryland

Goal: Pursue harsh legal consequences for those allegedly responsible for dogs found dead and chained in restricted conditions

Several dogs were reportedly discovered deceased and in various states of decomposition, apparently chained and unable to move freely. According to law enforcement, the remains were still wearing collars, indicating that the dogs may have been restrained in place during their final hours. This shocking discovery has raised concerns of severe neglect, as the animals appeared to be abandoned without adequate food, water, or shelter.

Chaining dogs in such a way that limits their ability to survive basic weather conditions and leaving them to die is a serious violation of animal welfare standards. If proven accurate, this apparent mistreatment can cause tremendous suffering and pain, effectively turning a backyard into a tragic scene of preventable loss. These innocent creatures, wholly reliant on humans for proper care, reportedly spent their last moments in despair.

Enforcing stringent legal penalties against those accused is essential to safeguarding other animals from similar fates. Without serious repercussions, these acts may continue unchecked. Demand that the responsible legal authority prosecute the alleged offenders fully and ensure that no more animals fall victim to such reported negligence.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Jamie L. Dykes,

Recent reports detail the discovery of multiple deceased dogs, apparently chained and left to decompose in a private backyard. Descriptions indicate the animals were wearing collars that constrained their movements, preventing them from escaping harmful conditions. This case, if substantiated, points to a grave neglect and disregard for basic animal care.

Companion animals depend on caretakers for access to food, water, and safe housing. Denying them these fundamental necessities can lead to prolonged suffering or, as reportedly shown in this case, even fatal outcomes. Such alleged acts, if not treated with the full force of the law, send a dangerous signal that neglect may go unpunished.

I respectfully request that you pursue strong legal action against any individuals found culpable and advocate for maximum penalties. Doing so will not only serve to deliver a measure of justice for these dogs but also reinforce a broader standard of protection for animals in your jurisdiction.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
