Find Answers About Fire That Killed Hundreds of Pet Shop Animals

Target: John Creuzot, District Attorney for Dallas, TX

Goal: Bring legal resolution to incident involving fire that killed 570-plus animals.

Nearly 600 animals died from smoke inhalation. The animals — including dogs, cats, hamsters, chickens, and hundreds of small birds – were being kept at an exotic pet shop in Texas. The shop was located in a one-story shopping center, which is where a fire broke out.

Firefighters contained the fire after two hours and were able to revive and save some animals. Tragically, most of the shop’s inhabitants perished. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Sign the petition below to call for vigorous follow-up and animal cruelty charges if criminal culpability is found.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear DA Creuzot,

The two-alarm fire at Dallas’ Plaza Latina damaged livelihoods, but it also took hundreds of animal lives. When smoke reportedly filled a pet shop on the premises, over 570 animals were trapped with no hope of escape. They likely spent their final moments struggling to breathe and in terrified agony. If any malicious intent or gross negligence is discovered to have contributed to this fire, then the person or persons responsible need to answer severely for their actions.

Please stay apprised of this investigation and pursue full justice for the victims via animal cruelty charges if the case should lead to a criminal prosecution.

Sincerely,
