Justice for Horse Allegedly Left to Starve

Target: Michael Allen, District Attorney of 4th Judicial District, El Paso County, Colorado

Goal: Prosecute those allegedly responsible for starving and neglecting a horse who later died.

A heartbreaking incident has unfolded involving a 16-year-old horse named Cowboy, who was allegedly left to starve by his previous owners in El Paso County. Rescued by Elite Equine Rescue and Rehab, Cowboy was reportedly found severely emaciated and unable to stand on his own. Despite intense efforts to save him, including providing warmth with multiple blankets and medical care, he apparently passed away tragically a few days later.

According to reports, Cowboy was so weak that heavy equipment was needed to help him stand. He apparently suffered from abrasions, bruising, and swelling due to his weakened state and attempts to move. It appears this severe neglect occurred because the owners could no longer afford to care for him, yet they failed to seek help or surrender him earlier when his condition might have been treatable.

Such alleged cruelty towards an innocent animal is unacceptable and violates animal welfare laws. It is imperative that those reportedly responsible for Cowboy’s suffering are held accountable to prevent future incidents of animal abuse. Honor Cowboy’s memory and reinforce the importance of compassion and responsibility towards all animals.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear District Attorney Allen,

I am writing to express deep concern over the reported case of a 16-year-old horse named Cowboy, who was allegedly left to starve by his previous owners in El Paso County. Rescued by Elite Equine Rescue and Rehab, Cowboy was reportedly found in a severely emaciated state, unable to stand without assistance. Despite dedicated efforts to save him, he apparently tragically passed away shortly after his rescue.

It is distressing to learn that Cowboy’s condition had allegedly deteriorated to such an extent due to neglect. Allowing an animal to suffer from starvation and lack of care is a serious violation of animal welfare laws and cannot be tolerated. This tragic outcome might have been prevented if his owners had sought help earlier or responsibly surrendered him.

I urge your office to thoroughly investigate this matter and to prosecute those reportedly responsible for Cowboy’s suffering to the fullest extent of the law. By taking decisive legal action, you can help ensure that justice is served and send a strong message that such cruelty towards animals will not be accepted in our community.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
