Target: Travis J. Koehn, District Attorney for Austin County, TX
Goal: Prosecute men accused of animal abandonment and cruelty toward pets to fullest extent.
Residents of Austin, Texas apparently made a grisly discovery in a neighborhood creek. They reportedly found the bodies of 15 deceased dogs in the creek, which was near their property. The residents’ former neighbors, brothers Fred John Riess and Rafael Cantu Baez-Riess, have seemingly been implicated in the incident.
The brothers reportedly claimed that they had disposed of the dogs after each of the animals’ deaths, over a period of time. A freezer full of more dead animals was allegedly uncovered at the suspects’ new residence. In addition, several ducks were apparently abandoned on their former property when the suspects moved.
Following a months-long investigation, the brothers were arrested on several counts of improper disposal and of animal cruelty. Sign the petition below to demand full prosecution of this unsettling case.
PETITION LETTER:
Dear DA Koehn,
Fred John Riess and Rafael Cantu Baez-Riess allegedly held dozens of dead animals (over 30 in total) both inside and outside their homes. They also allegedly left behind several pet ducks who had to be rescued from their prior residence, despite apparent offers of help with the ducks’ relocation from an acquaintance. Both the circumstances of the deceased dogs’ deaths and the callous reported manner in which they were disposed merit a serious pursuit of charges.
It took months for charges to be filed. Please do not let justice be delayed or denied any longer. Seek a maximum penalty in the event of a guilty conviction.
Sincerely,
[Your Name Here]
