Justice for Trooper: Dog Abandoned and Tied to Fence During Hurricane Evacuation

Target: Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody

Goal: Ensure full investigation and prosecution of the individual(s) responsible for abandoning and endangering a dog during a hurricane evacuation.

A dog named Trooper was found tied to a fence along a highway in Florida during the evacuations prior to Hurricane Milton. The animal was left immobile in rising water, standing in a puddle that reached up to his abdomen. Rescued by a Florida Highway Patrol officer, Trooper was visibly stressed and is currently undergoing rehabilitation at an animal shelter.

Abandoning a pet during a natural disaster not only subjects the animal to extreme danger but also violates animal welfare laws. Such actions reflect a severe disregard for the well-being of animals and can result in unnecessary suffering or death. The Humane Society of Leon County has expressed strong condemnation of this act, emphasizing that abandoning pets is completely unacceptable.

To prevent future incidents of this nature and to uphold the standards of animal welfare, it is imperative that authorities conduct a thorough investigation to identify and prosecute the individual(s) reportedly responsible for abandoning Trooper. Demand that the Florida Attorney General’s office takes immediate action to ensure justice is served and to protect animals from such cruelty.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Attorney General Ashley Moody,

I am writing to express deep concern over the case of a dog named Trooper who was found abandoned and tied to a fence along a highway during the evacuations for Hurricane Milton. This act not only endangered the life of an innocent animal but also reflects a severe disregard for animal welfare laws.

Leaving a pet restrained and defenseless in the face of an impending natural disaster is an unacceptable act of cruelty. Trooper was found standing in rising water, stressed and vulnerable. Such treatment of animals cannot be tolerated, and it is imperative that those responsible are held accountable.

I urge your office to conduct a thorough investigation into this incident and to prosecute the individual(s) responsible to the fullest extent of the law. By taking decisive legal action, you will send a strong message that animal cruelty is unacceptable and will help prevent future incidents. Please ensure that justice is served for Trooper and that steps are taken to protect animals in similar situations.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
