End Inhumane Animal Testing: Support the Adoption of Cruelty-Free Alternatives

Target: Yvette Cooper, UK Labour Government and Home Secretary

Goal:  Phase out animal testing and encourage the adoption of cutting-edge, non-animal testing alternatives.

Despite ongoing advancements in science and technology, a staggering 1.9 million animals—including dogs, mice, rats, and non-human primates—continue to suffer in laboratory experiments, with most being killed afterward. Among the most cruel testing methods still in practice is the lethal dose 50% test (LD50 and LC50), where animals are given escalating doses of a substance until half of them die. This inhumane practice persists despite the development of AcutoX, a cutting-edge, cruelty-free testing alternative.

Developed by XCellR8 with funding from Animal Aid, AcutoX offers a scientifically advanced and entirely non-animal method for testing toxicity. Yet, it remains underutilized while thousands of animals continue to be harmed. In a report, it was revealed that 2,477 dogs, 1,923,424 mice, 147,196 rats, 8,933 rabbits, 64 horses (and other equids), and 1,815 non-human primates were subjected to horrific experiments, with most killed afterward for organ harvesting.

Daisy Hall, Campaign Manager for Animal Aid, emphasizes the urgent need for the scientific community to shift to more humane research methods. Phase out animal testing.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Home Secretary Yvette Cooper,

I am writing to express my grave concern about the continued use of animal testing in the UK, particularly the lethal dose 50% (LD50 and LC50) tests, which cause immense suffering to thousands of animals. The recent report revealing that over 1.9 million animals, including dogs, non-human primates, and rodents, were subjected to cruel experiments is deeply troubling.

Despite the existence of AcutoX, a scientifically advanced, cruelty-free alternative developed by XCellR8, these archaic and inhumane practices continue. This is not only ethically unacceptable but also scientifically outdated, as modern methods offer more accurate and humane solutions for testing.

The Labour government has pledged to phase out animal testing, and I urge you to act swiftly to make this promise a reality. Please take decisive steps to ban outdated testing practices and invest in innovative, cruelty-free alternatives like AcutoX. The suffering endured by animals in laboratories is unjustifiable when more humane options are available.

Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter, and for your commitment to promoting humane and scientifically superior research methods.

Sincerely,

  1. Animal testing needs to be a thing of the past. We have other, more efficient, and less costly ways of testing today. We us AI nowadays thus animals testing needs to stop. And it needs to stop all over the world! The beauty world is the first place to stop this death for beauty BS. Nothing need die for others to be beautiful. They weren’t beautiful to begin with and killing animals won’t improve their lack of beauty. Beauty comes from within. Start there!

  2. This barbarism has no place in a modern civilised world, it should have been outlawed decades ago. It must stop now, no more excuses
