In a deeply disturbing case of animal cruelty, Marcus Bowden of Amelia County, Virginia, has been charged with multiple counts of animal abuse after 19 dogs were found in his care, many of them allegedly neglected and starving. Reportedly, out of the 19 dogs found at Bowden’s home on Stonewall Drive, one had already died in a pen, another passed away in the arms of an officer, and a third was discovered decomposed inside a dog food bag. Sixteen other dogs were rescued and are currently being treated for various health issues, including parasites and nasal worms.
The case has drawn significant attention from animal welfare advocates and members of the local community, such as Sandie Friend, president of the Virginia Kennel Club. Friend, who dedicates her life to the well-being of dogs, expressed her heartbreak over the tragedy and reminded neighbors to stay vigilant for signs of animal abuse in their community.
Under Virginia law, neglecting pets and subjecting them to extreme weather conditions is illegal, and Bowden’s actions, if proven, represent a serious violation of these laws. The surviving dogs are currently receiving care and will soon be available for adoption, but justice must be served for those who were lost due to the alleged neglect and mistreatment. Again, this creep must pay for the medical attention required by the remaining dogs. The dogs are his responsibility. Period. There are no excuses or reasons. He abused these dogs and needs to pay the price. He must pay for the medical services needed for the remaining dogs. Take his house, his savings accounts, his car, sell anything of value to pay for the medical attention needed, rehoming costs and all which may be needed by these dogs. Place a life long ban on this man ensuring he can never own, work with, or be near animals for the rest of his horrible life. No more animals need to suffer under this man’s demented thinking. And have this man evaluated mentally as he may need to stay in a mental institution for life.

If the law had stricter penalties for animal abusers, making them pay for all the costs incurred it may deter these morons from hoarding and neglecting animals. No doubt he didn’t starve himself, no animals should endure so much cruelty. He needs to pay for what he did.

If the deaths and suffering of animals is not taken seriously by lawmakers, then more innocent angels will suffer and die. This warrants the highest punishment. First Degree Felony one count for each dog in order to impede future cruelty toward any animal!

Marcus Bowden must receive the maximum punishment allowed by law AND ensure his mental illness is treated. No one wants him, or people like him, I’m their communities.
This is despicable. The perpetrator(s) must be found and quite honestly euthanized swiftly.
Maximum punishments allowable by law and make him pay for all the care for the remaining living pups as well as not being allowed to even be around any animals the rest of his sickening life. I want him in prison for as long as law allows – no exceptions. Prosecutors and judges: do your jobs well and uphold our laws. If people aren’t actually held to full accountability, then there’s no deterrent for him or others to commit these crimes (again). Uphold our laws…that’s why we have them and you are to enforce them.
