Justice for Dog That Died After Being Found in Ditch

Target: Matthew Ward, Botetourt County Sheriff, Virginia

Goal: Ensure a thorough investigation into the circumstances that led to the death of Mr. Buttons and seek justice for the alleged neglect or abuse that caused his suffering.

A heartbreaking case of alleged animal neglect has emerged in Botetourt County, Virginia, where a dog named Mr. Buttons was found abandoned in a ditch in a severely weakened state. Despite efforts to save him by Angels of Assisi, a rescue organization in Roanoke, Mr. Buttons ultimately passed away after his heart stopped following initial signs of recovery. The dog had been given a blood transfusion and other medical care, but his condition was too severe to overcome.

Lisa O’Neill, the director of Angels of Assisi, expressed the belief that Mr. Buttons’ suffering may have been the result of neglect or abuse. The community came together to donate to the Biscuit Fund, which helps provide veterinary care to animals in need, in an effort to save the dog. Unfortunately, despite the outpouring of support, Mr. Buttons did not survive.

This case highlights the urgent need for a thorough investigation to determine whether neglect or abuse played a role in Mr. Buttons’ condition. It is essential that the Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office take swift action to ensure justice for Mr. Buttons. Prevent other animals from suffering similar fates.

  1. These crimes are on the rise. The bullies killing these innocent animals walk away free. The law, is broken, and does nothing. Then more criminals step up to hurt innocent animals. I think animal abuse needs to end with the death sentence. What you do to another living being, needs to be done, exactly the same to you! We kill animals but we should kill the criminals hurting them! Animal abuse is a CRIME! Death needs to be the penalty. Then the murders and abuse might stop. Only when people fear their actions will return to convict them will they consider stopping the abuse.
