Demand Justice for Stray Cats Reportedly Shot with Steel Darts

Target: Ying Yong, Procurator-General of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of China

Goal: Ensure that the individual allegedly responsible for harming stray cats is prosecuted and advocate for stronger animal protection.

A deeply troubling case of suspected animal cruelty has emerged in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, where several stray cats were found seemingly brutally attacked with steel darts. Volunteers apparently discovered a cat with ten steel darts embedded in its body, which tragically died despite emergency treatment. Additional stray cats were reportedly injured by the same method, leading to widespread outrage among local residents and animal lovers.

This horrific incident underscores the urgent need for stronger legal protections for stray animals in China, as current laws do not adequately safeguard these vulnerable creatures. The individual suspected of committing these heinous acts is under police control, but it is unclear whether they will face appropriate punishment due to the lack of comprehensive animal protection laws.

We urge the Chinese authorities to ensure that the perpetrator is held fully accountable, if found guilty, and to strengthen legislation that protects stray animals from such cruelty. Take a significant step toward ending the abuse of innocent animals and promoting a more humane society.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Procurator-General Ying Yong,

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the recent reports of stray cats being shot with steel darts in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province. The severity of this apparent cruelty, which resulted in the death and injury of several innocent animals, is deeply alarming. The individuals reportedly responsible for this reprehensible act must be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

I strongly urge you to ensure that the suspect currently under police control is prosecuted and that justice is served for the suffering inflicted upon these animals, if they are found guilty. Additionally, I implore you to consider strengthening China’s animal protection laws, particularly for stray and feral animals, to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.

China has made significant strides in many areas, and it is now time to address the urgent need for stronger animal welfare protections. By doing so, we can create a safer environment for all animals and foster a society that values compassion and respect for all living beings.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
