Investigate Case of Cat Reportedly Dragged Behind Truck

Target: Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industries, Malaysia

Goal: Take action on case of cat allegedly dragged behind truck bed on leash.

A businessman, Leong Chan, has come under public scrutiny after a video allegedly showed a cat being dragged behind a moving pick-up truck in Simpang Ampat, Juru. The incident, which has sparked accusations of animal cruelty, occurred when Leong placed the stray cat in a basket in the truck’s bed, intending to take it to a clinic for spaying. However, the cat reportedly escaped the basket and was caught by its leash, leading to it being dragged along the road.

Leong has since clarified that the situation was a misunderstanding, explaining that he had been trying to catch the cat for spaying after allegedly finding dead kittens, presumably belonging to the cat, on his property. He claimed he placed the cat in the basket to prevent it from escaping during the short drive to the clinic. Unfortunately, the cat managed to escape the basket, and Leong allegedly discovered the situation only upon reaching the clinic. The cat was immediately treated and is now recovering.

In response to the backlash, Leong lodged a police report to clear his name. Despite the police’s confirmation that the incident was not an intentional act of cruelty, public outrage continues. Leong’s friend, who was driving the truck, and his family have also allegedly faced harassment. Sign below and demand that proper animal handling during transportation be prioritized to prevent similar situations in the future.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Minister Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar,

I am writing to bring to your attention a recent incident in Simpang Ampat, Juru, where a businessman, Leong Chan, was accused of animal cruelty after a video allegedly showing a cat being dragged behind a moving vehicle went viral. The situation has caused significant public outrage, with accusations of animal abuse directed at Mr. Leong.

However, upon investigation, it was reportedly clarified that this incident was not an intentional act of cruelty. Mr. Leong was allegedly attempting to transport a stray cat for spaying after discovering dead kittens on his property. The cat had been placed in a basket in the back of a pick-up truck, but unfortunately, it allegedly managed to escape the basket and was caught by its leash, leading to the unfortunate situation captured in the video.

While this appears to have been a tragic mistake rather than deliberate cruelty, the public outcry highlights the need for better awareness and guidelines regarding the safe transportation of animals. I urge your office to thoroughly investigate this incident, taking into account all the facts, and to consider implementing measures to ensure that similar incidents do not occur in the future. This could include educational campaigns on the proper handling and transportation of animals, as well as more stringent regulations to prevent such unfortunate events.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
