Hold Accountable Animal Rescue Groups Accused of Letting Dogs Languish and Die

Target: Song Mi-ryung, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, South Korea

Goal: Call for an investigation into the practices of animal rescue groups and ensure the welfare of rescued animals.

Recent reports have highlighted severe issues with several animal rescue groups in South Korea, particularly focusing on their handling of rescued dogs from dog farms and puppy mills. The groups, such as Team Cat’ch Dog and CARE, have been accused of failing to provide adequate aftercare, leading to numerous deaths and suffering among the rescued animals. In one instance, Team Cat’ch Dog moved 50 rescued dogs to the Ansan City Animal Protection Center, where 26 were euthanized due to measles within two weeks. The apparent lack of timely medical intervention has raised serious concerns about the group’s responsibility.

Critics argue that these groups are not only failing in their duty of care but also potentially misusing donations meant for the animals’ welfare. For example, CARE faced backlash after 90 out of 180 dogs rescued from a wildfire were allegedly kept in unsanitary conditions, resulting in 11 deaths. Allegations have been made that the funds raised for these rescues were not properly allocated to ensure the animals’ health and safety.

Moreover, the practice of livestreaming rescues has come under scrutiny. While these broadcasts are meant to highlight the plight of abused animals and garner public support, they have raised suspicions about whether the focus is genuinely on animal welfare or exploiting public sentiment for financial gain. Call for an investigation into the practices of animal rescue groups and demand accountability.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Minister Song Mi-ryung,

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the recent reports of severe neglect and inadequate care provided by some animal rescue groups in South Korea. The allegations against groups like Team Cat’ch Dog and CARE, who are accused of failing to ensure the welfare of rescued dogs, are alarming. Alleged instances such as the euthanization of 26 dogs due to untreated measles and the unsanitary conditions leading to the deaths of rescued animals seem to underscore a critical failure in these organizations’ responsibilities.

It is imperative that thorough investigations be conducted into the practices of these animal rescue groups. The welfare of rescued animals must be guaranteed, and misuse of donations meant for their care should not be tolerated. I urge you to implement stricter regulations and oversight to ensure that these groups are held accountable and that rescued animals receive the proper medical care and living conditions they deserve.

Your immediate action on this matter is crucial to prevent further suffering and to restore public trust in animal rescue efforts. Thank you for your attention to this urgent issue.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

  1. The so called animal rescue groups need to have a higher standard. When they break the law they should be charged double. They offend the animals they supposedly serve and the people who trust them to provide for animals. But you folks just eat all these animals and could care less about their health or comfort.
When any group or person says they are animal caretakers they need to tae a higher standard of care and if they fail they pay double with punishment.

  2. If these groups are found guilty they deserve to die in the same way they let the “rescued “ animals die

  3. let them rot in jail
