Donkeys Allegedly Neglected and Sickened Deserve Justice

Target: Tom Vilsack, Secretary of U.S. Department of Agriculture

Goal: Investigate farm owner accused of neglecting and endangering multiple donkeys and horses.

A man who claimed he rescued horses from slaughter now stands accused of neglecting many of the animals under his care to the point of sickness. Authorities have charged Hershel Clint Canady, Jr. with 11 counts of animal cruelty. The case involves 11 animals for which Canady had allegedly failed to provide veterinary care. Further, a woman claimed that Canady sold her several donkeys, five of whom died.

While this man is facing charges from his county of residence, he apparently also has four separate complaints against him within the U.S. Department of Agriculture. In addition, Canady –who operates a farm – was also reportedly given warnings by a local animal control unit. He allegedly ignored all of these warnings.

This apparent flagrant flouting of the law must end. Sign the petition below to call on the USDA to take necessary action against this alleged serial offender.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Secretary Vilsack,

How many complaints does it take before this agency begins doing its job in curtailing animal cruelty within the agricultural sector? A Georgia farmer, Hershel Clint Canady, Jr., is now facing a dozen charges in relation to his alleged medical negligence of donkeys and horses under his care. This farm already reportedly has at least four registered complaints with the USDA’s equine abuse unit. Worse yet, the suspect was seemingly offered every opportunity to settle his alleged wrongdoing out of the courts.

Where is the accountability, and where is the USDA? Please launch an extensive investigation into this farm and ensure that if its operator is found guilty, he never has the chance to hurt another living being under his care.

Sincerely,

  1. This man does not do anything? Even with the law involved? Well, send him a message he will not soon forget! He has no right to take animals and then abuse them, starve them, and not have them see a vet,. The bastard would run like diarrhea if he thought something happened to him. He would kill just to see a doctor, but he has no heart for animals which he knows, damned well, need to see a vet. He is is a prime example that all humans are not worth the life they have. We could do without this monster. He needs to go to prison. He needs to pay for all the sick animals who have a chance to get well once more. He needs a bond which says he can’t own, work with, or be around any animals for the rest of his pitiful life.
