Police Officer Who Allegedly Abused Dog Needs Prison Sentence

Target: Adair Ford Boroughs, State Attorney for South Carolina

Goal: Give police officer prison sentence for allegedly keeping her sick dog locked inside crate.

A police officer named Amanda Ross was charged with animal cruelty after pictures allegedly showed a malnourished dog that she owned standing inside a crate filled with waste. If these allegations are proven true it is important she spend time in jail to make it clear that such mistreatment by a law enforcement officer will not be tolerated.

Ross’s attorney—Ryan James–is arguing that Ross and her husband had to keep the dog inside the crate when the animal suddenly became sick because the dog was not able to control bowel movements. Unfortunately, the dog’s accidents were thought to be a direct result of severe heart worm disease. According to James, the animal was only put down after they learned about the dog’s illness and determined that treatment was not affordable.

James states that there is no statute in place to punish people for having a lack of resources. While this may be true, a person should think about all future expenses before obtaining a pet. Furthermore, keeping an animal locked inside a small crate to avoid the consequences of a medical problem should never be considered acceptable. Surrendering an animal to a reputable shelter or rescue group that may be able to provide the pet with the appropriate care is also a likely option in such times of distress. Sign this petition to demand Ross receive prison time if she is found guilty of allowing this innocent animal to needlessly suffer and die.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear State Attorney Boroughs,

Amanda Ross, who is currently serving as a police officer, was charged with animal cruelty after it was reported her dog was emaciated and kept inside a filthy crate. The animal appeared to be standing to avoid lying down in waste.

Her attorney said that she and her husband chose to euthanize the dog because they could not afford to treat the dog’s heart worm disease. He therefore states that she should not be punished since vet care was not affordable. This argument is absurd since someone should strongly think about related expenses before getting a pet. Additionally, choosing to keep an animal locked inside a dirty crate for long periods of time to avoid a medical issue may be considered animal abuse. Furthermore, reaching out to a rescue organization or animal shelter may also be a viable option when one cannot afford pet care.

I therefore demand you suggest Ross be fired and that she be given the maximum sentence if it is discovered this dog suffered and died while under her care to send a clear message that animal abuse is never acceptable, especially by an individual who has taken an oath to uphold the law.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

South Carolina is ALWAYS in the bottom 5 states for Animal Welfare! NO decent laws! GENERATIONAL IGNORANCE ABOUT DOGS!
Local law enforcement DOES NOT try to stop DOG FIGHTING RINGS!

  2. what a lying douche bag. you couldn’t afford it. last time i checked cops got paid pretty well. even if that is true seek help from a rescue they would be willing to help. instead you let that poor dog suffer an imaginable death. arrest her sorry ass she is an arrogant bitch on top of it.

  3. she had enough money for an attorney though!

Ross is a lying bitch, she earns a good salary as a police officer and I bet her husband works too! Of course they could afford vet treatment for this poor dog, they just did not want to part with money! Greedy bas*a#ds. What’s the betting that they get another dog? I feel sure they can afford to go on holidays! And when another pet that needs medical treatment they will dispose of it like a broken toaster! What monsters!

    • Totally agree. Funny how a lot of these abusers plead poverty and yet THEY have all the food, medical treatment etc. that THEY need. Shut this woman in a crate and let her live in her own excrement ’til she dies.
