This is why chaining dogs needs to be illegal. This dog could have ran for his safety if he were free. If the yard was small he could have atleast barked or scratched his owners door for help. Question: have the owners been investigated? Also, neighborhood camera footage should be checked out.

It was a very large outside fenced area to keep the dog safe and comfortable, the perpetrator poured the gasoline OVER the tall fence of the pen over this senior dog and his blanket and then set him on fire. do not blame this atrocity on the family who dearly loved Duke.
Why was an elderly dog left outside overnite? A 16 year old dog should have been safe inside his home when no one was around. His family is not totally to blame but it could have been prevented if dogs were not kept outside.

In today’s sick society, animal really DO need to be kept INSIDE THEIR HOMES for safety. Even then only for a short time each day for exercise etc. To leave an animal ‘out’ all the time is just callous.
