Punish Owner of Shelter Apparently Found With Feces-Caked Walls, Raw Sores, No Water, and Puppy Carcasses

Target: Rachel Mitchell, Prosecutor for Maricopa County, AZ

Goal: Prosecute woman charged with 77 counts of animal cruelty to fullest extent.

A disturbing case involving dozens of special needs dogs recently created quite a stir on social media. The animals were reportedly found in deplorable conditions at the residence of April McLaughlin, who operated a supposed rescue shelter called the Special Needs Animal Welfare League. Investigators reported the following: exposed ribs, urine and feces-caked walls, raw sores, immobile limbs, no water, and puppy carcasses. Several of the dogs were apparently in such a deteriorated state that they had to be euthanized. The Arizona Humane Society said in a statement, “these dogs were suffering horrifically.”

After prolonged pressure from local activists and the discovery of the animals by police, charges were brought before the prosecutor’s office but were seemingly dropped until a more thorough investigation could be completed. Now that this police investigation is done, McLaughlin is once again facing animal cruelty charges totaling 77. The case also compelled needed reforms in the locality’s cruelty laws.

But true justice will not be served for these animals if prosecutors once again fail at the job. Sign the petition below to demand full legal consequences for this suspect if she is found guilty.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Prosecutor Mitchell,

You asked Chandler police to deliver more evidence against Special Needs Animal Welfare League operator April McLaughlin, and they have apparently done the job. Even local leaders are in the process of amending laws to better protect at-risk animals. Now the responsibility rests with you to close this sad chapter in a meaningful way by holding this suspect fully accountable for any crimes of which she is found guilty.

The 55 animals involved in this case are among the most vulnerable, and their lives matter. Please prosecute this case with vigilance and seek the maximum possible penalty.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

Evil, heartless subhuman should never be allowed to own any animal. These poor, innocent souls depended on this person to care for them and she neglected and starved them. Hope justice will be served for the voiceless.

  2. This so cruel nerved to be allowed any animal ever again

  3. We need to hold the people that care for animals accountable

  4. Christine Grabar says:

These kind of people should not be allowed to run an animal rescue. There’s no excuse for allowing this to happen to sweet animals. She needs to be sent to the electric chair or at least prison.

  5. Maria Lavorato says:

Rachel Mitchell, Prosecutor for Maricopa County, AZ PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON’T TURN A BLIND EYE. THIS RAMPANT animal cruelty needs to stop. SOMEONE HAVE THE GUTS!!!!!!!

Most likely McLaughlin …. greedy bitch took in money for special needs dogs and did not deliver.

The dogs suffered horrifically….so now she must SUFFER horrifically. Do you job judge. She must get maximum sentence. MURDER FRIST DEGREE SEVERAL COUNTS

BAN THIS BITCH FOR LIFE!!! Why did it get this far? Give ALL these puppies/dog etc their due justice!!!

  6. Cruel owner should be put away for good

  7. Garlina Norris says:

She’s trash. Incarcerate this fat pig with no food or water.
    Thanks!

  8. She needs to be locked in a small cage.

  9. This woman needs punishing!

  10. It is baffling that a horrific case of this animal cruelty is sitting on the balance of whether or not it will be prosecuted. There needs to be more oversight of these supposed “rescues”. This is not the first case of horrific animal abuse caused by someone who does rescues. The condition of the animals should serve as enough evidence to prosecute April McLaughlin. It would be a terrible tragedy if charges were dropped.

  11. Joseph Kenosky says:

Euthanize this “rescue” owner. The person is despicable and does not deserve to exist.

  12. THIS FUCKING CUNT SHOULD BE LOCKED IN A SHIT-COVERED ROOM AND STARVED TO DEATH.

    • I agree with you give her the same treatment she gave the poor helpless dogs!

    • Naila M Johnston says:

Murderers!! Murderers! Torturous people!!! Kill them!! Death to them!!

    • This bastard has to be taken out no messing. Mob justice must rule on this one. A dark night job for sure as the bastard must go out sometime.
The only only way these arseholes will learn is when the tossers are DEAD!!! If this method bothers anyone, just look upon the act as if you were scraping something nasty from the bottom of your shoe. Job done and dusted!!!
      J,W.

  13. Animals shall not be victims of DEHUMANIZED and DESENSITIZED, SADISTIC PSYCHOPATHS!!! Crimes committed against defenseless animals are increasingly GROTESQUE because the punishment for animal abuse is not severe enough, and in many cases does not exist. A slap on the wrist is a MOCKERY of animal victims. This satanic pathological monster must be severely punished, MAX JAIL! She must also be forbidden from coming near animals ever again. She should also cover all veterinary costs resulting from this horrific abuse. SET a PRECEDENT, and punish to the full extent of the law! JUSTICE for these innocent animals!!

  14. This is a shameful way to enact the law, or is there any law for animals? There’s not meaningful law for animals which should be changed. This woman is lucky she lives in a country where she won’t be I,,mediately thrown in prison for life. Just the same all this death is on her hands. Prosecutors have the responsibility and obligation to speak for those who have been wronged but are voiceless by death or being an animal. We all know animals feel pain, feel pleasure, have emotions, and are honestly far more humane than humans!!! Now do something to represent those who can not speak for themselves. It’s both your honor and duty to do so.

  15. Prosecutor Mitchell,
Please hold April McLaughlin 100% responsible and prosecute her to the fullest extent of the law when found liable for her sadistic and intentional cruelty towards vulnerable special care needs animals who were dependent upon her for their care. Chandler police did what you asked them to and all of the evidence has been gathered. Miss McLaughlin deserves swift and thorough judgement when found guilty and when you convict and sentence her for her purposeful actions with direct and malicious intent to perpetuate harm and suffering upon innocent animals who could have been placed in an actual special needs rescue where they would have gotten and would be getting the intensive love, care, and support that they should be receiving and should have had.

  16. So ashamed to be a human. Assholes like 5is need to be euthanized! Wake up!

  17. How can this cruelty be swept under the rug? This woman has no love of animals. She showed no mercy for for these dogs which were already slaughtered by being special needs. Put her in prison. If she is dismissed she will continue to torture animals.

  18. Why aren’t the Animal welfare organizations not doing regular checks on these supposed shelters??? Whoever is supposed to over see them is not doing their jobs and should also be charged with cruelty.

  19. Any of these groups should be inspected at random to monitor this kind of mistreatment.

  20. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THESE DISGUSTING, EVIL EXCUSES FOR SO CALLED HUMAN BEINGS, JUST WHAT!!
NEVER, EVER SHOULD THOSE RESPONSIBLE BE ALLOWED TO GO WITHOUT A PUNISHMENT THEY WILL NEVER FORGET AND NEVER, EVER SHOULD THEY BE ALLOWED TO OWN ANY ANIMAL, OR INDEED BE ALLOWED NEAR AN ANIMAL.

PLEASE DO YOUR JOB AND RESCUE ALL THESE POOR ANIMALS AND PUNISH THOSE RESPONSIBLE STRONGLY…NOW.

    THANK YOU
