A dedicated K-9 deputy, Kenzo, lost his life in the line of duty while bravely assisting in the apprehension of an armed robbery suspect. The suspect, allegedly armed and dangerous, was located in a fenced commercial yard. K-9 Kenzo, a loyal and fearless member of the force, was deployed to track down the suspect. When deputies lost contact with Kenzo, they entered the yard to discover him apparently stabbed. The suspect was apprehended, but the heroic K-9 Kenzo succumbed to his injuries.
Cody Bartlett, the alleged perpetrator, has been taken into custody on suspicion of armed robbery, aggravated robbery, and the egregious act of harming a service animal. Additionally, Juan Tacho was arrested in connection to this case, facing charges of armed robbery, aggravated robbery, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
This heart-wrenching incident highlights the immense sacrifices that our dedicated law enforcement officers and their loyal K-9 partners make every day. K-9 Kenzo’s courageous actions exemplify the unwavering commitment to protect and serve our communities. I worked at a kennel in Miami for 15 years where cops came all the time for training and buying supplies… Every chance I got .. I would ask this question.. Some animals are genetically inclined,to protect and serve. They have kept more humans alive. In the military they sniff out IUD’S, human enemies. In other humans they can snuff out cancer, and other illnesses. They are taught to be aware if someone is about to have a medical issues by lying down so the person can pass out and be unharmed by falling, and getting into more danger. They are also taught to find help for that person. If you see a service dog walking around and trying to get human attention,it’s to get help for the human in need. Animals are not here for entertainment or to be abused by horrible people. They have saved more lives than you can imagine. Dogs will go to great extent to for their human handlers, to create a bond that can be so incredibly strong.

The real issue here is that the incompetent K9 handler used this K9 as a scape goat. You never send a K9 to manage armed subjects, NEVER! The K9 can’t possibly defend itself from being shot or stabbed. This senseless K9 death was completely preventable. This K9 was sent on a suicide mission because the LEOs on this case were either too scared or incompetent to directly managed and confront the armed subjects so they sent in the K9 as a scape goat. K9 handler needs to be charged with animal abuse. This K9 deserved better. Hopefully the incompetent K9 handler will never be given another K9 again!
