Dead Pitbulls, Alleged Victims of Dogfighting, Deserve Justice

Target: Sheriff Emery A. Gainey, Alachua County Sheriff’s Office

Goal: Guarantee an exhaustive inquiry into the recurrent deaths of pitbulls and mixed breed dogs allegedly involving dogfighting.

A grim pattern has materialized in Archer, Florida. Reports of deceased pitbulls and mixed breed dogs, many bearing signs of abuse and malnourishment, persist in the community. Local resident Becky Harn stumbled upon multiple dead dogs near her property and, recognizing the severity of the situation, founded a Facebook group to bring attention to the issue. This social media platform provides detailed instructions for reporting these incidents to Alachua County Animal Services and UF College of Veterinary Medicine. An ongoing investigation by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) includes one count of felony animal cruelty; however, resolution remains elusive.

The gruesome nature of these discoveries raises suspicion of dogfighting activities within the locale. A form of animal abuse prohibited by law, dogfighting involves breeding dogs to battle in a pit for the purposes of amusement and wagering. Such activities can lead to a host of severe injuries and frequently culminate in the demise of these innocent creatures.

Despite these allegations and community efforts, no major developments have emerged in the investigation. ACSO asserts that concrete evidence and specific locations are required to make any arrests. Consequently, while Archer’s residents live in an atmosphere of apprehension, no definitive action is taken to cease the ongoing horrors inflicted upon these dogs. Let’s take action now.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Sheriff Gainey,

We wish to express an escalating alarm and ire concerning the continuous cases of pitbull and mixed breed dog deaths, allegedly tied to dogfighting, within the community. These incidents are not only disturbing but unequivocally inhumane and illegal.

In your capacity as Sheriff of Alachua County, we urge swift and decisive action. All requisite resources should be deployed to clarify the circumstances, pinpoint those culpable, and administer justice. Collaboration with the Alachua County Animal Services and UF College of Veterinary Medicine should be strengthened to ensure the prompt identification and proper care of surviving animals.

Conclusively, we demand that those implicated in these unsettling events be held accountable under the fullest extent of existing law. By doing so, we not only send a powerful message against animal abuse, but also restore the safety and tranquillity of the community.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

    Dear Sheriff Gainey,
That’s not ‘news’ – the so many immigrants that settled in Florida do that to make ‘dirty’ money.
What about offering a ‘reward’ to whoever reports the places where those fucking fights are taking place?
Please jail them and fine them please – and after send them back to their countries of origin!
    Thank you!

Sheriff Gainey…DO YOUR JOB! Investigate and jail these sick offenders.
