Dog Reportedly Killed by Non-Licensed Veterinarian Deserves Justice

Target: Jeffrey A. Klatzkow, District Attorney of Collier County, Florida

Goal: Prosecute man accused of killing a dog by performing a surgery without proper licensing.

In Collier County, FL, an innocent Chihuahua was allegedly killed after complications from an unlicensed C-section. This six-year-old pup, named Sugar, reportedly underwent surgery to remove a stillborn puppy and get spayed. Owners report the man arrested and charged with animal cruelty for the surgery, Osvaldo Sanchez, had identified himself as a a licensed veterinarian who could safely complete the procedure on their dog. After the surgery was finished, the owners allegedly paid Sanchez $600, but soon after the surgery noticed Sugar was falling ill. Officials report Sugar’s owners took her to licensed veterinarians and emergency services to save her life, but a week after the surgery, she died. After an investigation, it was reported that Sanchez used string or thread to stitch Sugar up, possibly leading to her fatal infection.

Sign the petition below to demand officials prosecute Sanchez, and if found guilty, that he receive the maximum sentence for animal abuse and performing as a veterinarian without proper licensing.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Attorney Klatzkow,

An innocent dog allegedly lost her life at the hands of an illegal surgery. The man accused of killing Sugar apparently had no license to perform surgery, and officials report that unfit materials were utilized, possibly contributing to the fatal infection she died from. The charged suspect needs to be prosecuted immediately to bring justice to Sugar and her owners. An innocent life was lost, and if it is proven that the suspect was the culprit of such a crime, officials must ensure no other animals suffer because of him. We demand the suspect is prosecuted immediately, and if he is found guilty, he must receive the highest sentencing of his crimes. Thank you for your attention to this message.

Sincerely,

  1. I have a few questions about this story… did the owners just meet this guy on the street? Where did he perform the surgery? No way I’m taking my pups anywhere but to the vet. It sounds a bit negligent on the owners part. Sad the whole way around. Run free, Sugar. <3

    • Agreed!I am guessing they were trying to save money. Such a sad thing all around.

    • I definitely agree with you, they’re responsible for this also,I believe. Very sad that this poor little dog had to suffer due to negligence.

    • Denise Violante says:

These are the questions I was thinking everyone that has a pet has at least one if not a few different vets that they take their animals to especially if they’re having puppies so if you had the time afterwards to take them to a licensed vet an emergency center why did you not just do this from the jump? Why would you take it to some vet that you’ve never met before, and was this a back alley surgery? Where was this performed? I think most of the stupidity falls on the owners for not taking better care of their pet.

    • Regardless if this idiot was licensed or not licensed, and the irresponsible owners, he needs to be put behind bars for a long time and a big fine! I am so sick of seeing the cruelty and irresponsibility of pet owners, dog breeders, puppy mill owners, and our government not doing a fucking thing about any of it!
I wouldn’t doubt if this poor little dog was bred over and over for puppies since she wasn’t even spayed and she was 6 years old. Rest in peace Sugar and karma is a bitch for your owners and this idiot fake vet.

      • Diane Amaya says:

        Agreed!

      • Agreed. Sugar is no longer in pain. And people who continue to breed litter after litter when we have a substantial pet overpopulation crisis as it is. They all need to be held accountable! & there needs to be stricter laws for animal rights! They are living, breathing beings who experience feelings & pain just like us! Where are their rights & protection? So sick of the injustice.

  2. This story is a little blotchy however to present yourself as a licensed vet is illegal. This same tragedy has happened before and with people in a supposed doctor’s care in the office. Again, this is illegal. Anyone found guilty of this be it with animals or people needs to face the law. This tragedy could have been avoided.

  3. This is messed up!! Poor dog!!!

  4. RIP SUGAR..🙏🥺😢😥😞

  5. Paula Long says:

Only prison for this jerk!!! WTF is wrong with people?

  6. How could that fake vet get away with practicing without a license? I feel so bad for that poor little pup, Sugar 😭 that should have never had happened to that sweet little innocent girl. Put that fake POS vet away for life as he took a life. Start giving harsher punishments, maybe then this abuse and murder might start ending. RIP beautiful little Sugar 🙏🌈❤️

  7. The owners of the dog should accept the responsibility of their negligence for not investigating the so called veterinarian and admit that they were just cheap and trying to save money. GRRRRR 🤯😤😠😡🤬

The question needs to be asked if they would go to a hairdresser to have an appendectomy….of course they wouldn’t….but in doing what they did….they lost their precious fur baby who TOTALLY TRUSTED them to do the right thing….and they FAILED MISERABLY. SOOOOO SAD and UTTERLY REPREHENSIBLE 😭😭😭😭😭😭

  8. SUCH A TRAGEDY FOR POOR SUGAR. I BLAME THE OWNERS FOR SUCH STUPIDITY. PROSECUTE THOSE RESPONSIBLE TO THE FULL EXTENT OF THE LAW, THAT BEING THE GOOD FOR NOTHING UNLICENSED PIECE OF SHIT NOT EVEN A VET AND EVEN THE STUPID OWNERS. NONE OF THEM SHOULD EVER BE ALLOWED NEAR AN ANIMAL AGAIN, LET ALONE OWN.

  9. Uncommon Sensesc says:

We’re missing a whole lot of the story – where was this surgery done? How did they find this guy? It sounds like they talked to someone who knew someone else who would do unlicensed vet work for cheap. And this is what caused that innocent little dog’s death! The owners need to be charged also and never allowed to have pets again. The whole story needs to be told instead of trying to make the owners look like innocent victims (which they aren’t). Damnit! If one of my dogs or cats needed help, I’d sell a kidney to pay for it if I had to!

I totally agree with. Roy W Ferguson

If this guy is advertising he’s a vet and has an office and no license he should be jailed. That poor dog and heartbroken family have suffered at the hands of a greedy liar it’s time for this evil person to face consequences.

    • I would not think that the family were ‘too’ heartbroken as they were the ones cutting corners to save money.
They are just as much to blame as this fake veterinary practitioner.
I would imagine that their only upset would be that they could not use this innocent little dog to produce more puppies for monetary gain!
As I said, they are just a as bad as the bastard charlatan vet!!

  12. josie olive says:

This piece of garbage need to be injected with a lethal dose of fentanyl

  13. Maria Lavorato says:

I am so sorry little Sugar that your owners did not do their due diligence. This could all have been avoided and they would still have their little dog Sugar.

Agree with comments…a lot of questions. Though one thing for sure is that the so called vet needs to be charged and fined for causing death and posing as a vet that could do surgeries. He needs to pay big time!

  14. Firstly, before we deal with this so-called ‘veterinary’ let us look at the owners of this little dog!
WHY, did these buffoons not check out this dick to make sure he was registered and supposedly knew what he was doing? I would NEVER, EVER leave my dog (especially for a serious operation like this) in the hands of someone I had just met.
I mean, had this tosser been putting ‘cut price’ ads in the paper ?
Maybe they were more interested in saving a few pounds – dollars, than their little dogs life! Had this prick actually got a surgery?
Animals look to their owners to do the right thing by them, and also they have no choice as to where they are taken.
I know this may sound harsh with no disrespect to the little dog but it serves these stupid buggers right! These fools do not deserve to have any animal in their care and seriously deserve a good ‘kicking’ themselves for being so stupid and greedy at the expense of this unfortunate innocent little dog.
As for this poxy vet of sorts, where was he performing this operation – on his bloody kitchen table— bastard!!
I would not imagine that the little dog was handed over on the street?? I can just imagine what the bastard would do. Something like,
“Oh shit, can’t find the surgical thread, I’ll just have to use this piece of string instead; no one will notice”.
Bastard shitbag needs beating to an inch of his life for malpractice on innocent trusting animals.
Will the law come forward and deal with this prick? I guess not!
People power needs to show this ‘un-vet’ the serious repercussions for malpractice.
Would these dozy idiots have done the same if it had been their baby. You know, I reckon that the fools would!!!

We all know what this scumbag vet needs, that is for sure.

  15. A lot of questions here. Why was a six year old ‘pet’ being bred? How did your dog get to be six and you don’t know of a good vet? Did she not have vaccinations as a pup? Everyone involved is to blame for this little sweethearts suffering and I hope someone gets to be blamed for it.
    RIP Sugar.

    • These scumbags would not give a toss as long as they were making money from this little dog and maybe others too.
These tossers are just as much at fault as the shitbag vet and should be treated accordingly.
Serve the bastards right. They sure need to be stopped at this greedy practice using innocent dogs for monetary gain.
How much this little dog has suffered in it’s shortish life would be hard to say!!
I really doubt that the useless justice system would do anything as this would be just swept under the carpet. Too much paperwork and it is only a ‘dog’ anyway!
Well sod them all, this little dog needs justice. It was not it’s fault; it had no choice!
But the bastard owners did. They could have taken it to a sensible accredited vet but chose to cut corners for cheapness.
These are the ones who need attending to ( painfully) for their greedy actions. Which in this instance, ‘did not work out’.
Let the punishment fit the crime.
      J. W.

  16. I am signing this petition because I sympathize deeply with Sugar not the owners. Sugar was 6 years old and suffering from a difficult pregnancy when taken to the cheap, fake “veterinarian”. This is very suspicious behavior. Have the owners been breeding Sugar for several years and profiting from the sale of the puppies while avoiding proper veterinary care? Why is there no reference to prior visits, treatments and an ongoing relationship with a licensed veterinarian during the six years of Sugar’s life? I think that the owners should be considered as complicit in Sugar’s death if they have been avoiding proper veterinary care for her. Rest in peace, Sugar. You deserved better

  17. Put this asshole in jail!

  18. If the person was unlicensed as a Veterinarian, then the person was not a Veterinarian. The person who performed this procedure assumed the risk and needs to be prosecuted. Also, same be upon the owner of this little defenseless dog and stillborn puppy in taking this dog to a person who was not a licensed Veterinarian. Many people apparently believe that the lives of domesticated animals have little or no value and death should be discounted. But where is the line drawn? The owners of the dog have some culpability too.

  19. Mary OConnell says:

    This person should be posecuted.

  20. My assumption, which could be wrong, shopped around based on cost. For the surgery performed $600 seems on the low end. Ii could be wrong about that, too. But vet care is not cheap. This article doesn’t give enough details.

One off my dogs was taken for emergency care. Office visit and x-rays came to $700. Just to find out she was constipated.
