Justice for Over 30 Dogs Reportedly Killed or Malnourished in Unsafe Living Conditions

Target: Scott A. Coffina, Chief Law Enforcement Officer of Burlington County, N.J.

Goal: Investigate couple allegedly responsible for the neglect and/or death of up to 100 dogs.

Police reportedly found over 30 dogs, and even a few cats and rabbits, dead or in terrible health in a New Jersey home. The homeowners, Rebecca Halbach and Brandon Leconey, were arrested after officials heard reports of malnourished animals walking around their property and seemingly found evidence of such neglect. Based on the severity of the home’s conditions, the nine-year-old boy residing in the home was taken by officials. Officials estimate that as many as 100 dogs may have lost their lives in the home. Even when the dogs were found alive, some were reportedly in such poor condition that they had to be treated for their severe health issues. One out of the nine dogs taken to the hospital was euthanized.

Both individuals were charged with animal cruelty and child endangerment. Demand a full investigation so that officials may prosecute the couple in a timely manner to provide justice to the dozens of dogs who allegedly suffered at the hands of their owners. Furthermore, bring justice to the child reportedly involved in such poor living conditions by properly handling the case.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Officer Coffina,

Officials believe that nearly 100 dogs have lost their lives to the living conditions owners kept them in. Even an innocent child was reportedly forced to survive in such conditions, but based on their severity, he was removed. The couple reportedly compromised the lives of innocent animals, specifically dogs, cats, and rabbits, and it is up to officials to prevent this situation from repeating itself. Please properly investigate this case so that the suspects can be prosecuted and punished accordingly if found guilty. Animal cruelty and child endangerment continue to occur daily, and officials must reinforce the law and demonstrate the immortality of such acts.

Sincerely,
