Two University of Buffalo football players, 19-year-old Blake Hiligh and 20-year-old Zachary Pilarcek, have been charged with animal abuse after a video surfaced apparently showing them repeatedly striking a 4-year-old miniature poodle with a leather belt inside an apartment on June 13.

According to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office, the two individuals filmed themselves beating the defenseless dog as a means of discipline and subsequently uploaded the footage to social media.
