Protect West Indian Manatee From Boat Strikes

Target: Mr. Andrew Holness, Prime Minister of Jamaica

Goal: Advocate for the protection of the West Indian manatee, which is threatened by boat strikes, pollution, and habitat loss.

The West Indian manatee is a species of sea cow that is found throughout the Caribbean, including in Jamaica. Unfortunately, the West Indian manatee is facing numerous threats to its survival, including boat strikes, pollution, and habitat loss. Without immediate action, the West Indian manatee could become extinct in the near future, which would have significant ecological, cultural, and economic impacts on Jamaica and the Caribbean.

To protect the West Indian manatee, we need to address the root causes of boat strikes, pollution, and habitat loss. We also need to implement measures to reduce human-wildlife conflict, such as public education and outreach. Finally, we need to support scientific research and monitoring to better understand the needs of the West Indian manatee and its habitat.

Through habitat protection and management, human-wildlife conflict reduction, and scientific research and monitoring, we can protect the West Indian manatee and its habitat.

Sign below and demand Prime Minister Holness take action and support these efforts.

  1. It’s a lost cause. Ships and boat strikes are just part of the everyday for manatees. Sadly they will go extinct. But until people go extinct no one will be interested in how to live with other species who call this earth home.

The deadliest animal in the animal kingdom is the human species.

  2. Exactly. How right you are.
Stupid humans WILL destroy the world through greed.
    Very sad but very true!!
