Dozens of dogs were reportedly confined to small cages and left outside in the snow by kennel owner John Jones. The weather in Michigan dropped to below zero resulting in the water supply freezing, thus apparently leaving the dogs with no drinking water. The dogs reportedly exhibited extreme distress due to lack of exercise. One dog was apparently found dead with straw in his mouth. Jones allegedly did not know the dog had died. Forty dogs were removed from the kennel and Jones is charged with four counts of felony cruelty abuse to animals and three counts misdemeanor.
Multiple complaints were filed regarding the property for months. Several protests were held outside of the sheriff’s office. PETA also accused the property of being a puppy mill. They demanded an investigation against the property and Jones. The department had an open investigation since December. All the living dogs were thankfully rescued and are now safe. They are getting the warmth, care, and safety that they deserved all along.
Jones being charged for alleged abuse is a step in the right direction, but he must suffer consequences if found guilty. Animal abuse is a huge issue that occurs all over the world with many getting away with it. If Jones is convicted and harshly punished, others can see that animal abuse is a real crime that will come with legal consequences.

Dear David Den Houten,
We must make sure John Jones is held accountable for the extreme animal abuse he allegedly caused. Although it is a step in the right direction that he was charged, he must also be made to face real consequences if he is found guilty. Leaving dogs out in the freezing cold with no water supply is illegal and cruel. His apparent abuse resulted in the death of dog.
No animal should be subjected to such cruelty. Please make sure John Jones is harshly punished if convicted of these heinous crimes.

Make sure this asshole pays for all the expenses involved with the care and taking of the dogs. Make sure his business is closed forever, then take the SOB out and throw him in a kennel lock the door and walk away. the next cold snow storm would be a good time

What the hell took law enforcement so long to take action!! Thank God for the neighbors or the poor dogs would still be suffering and dying. Please make sure this guy gets the maximum punishment and a life time ban on owning any other animals!

This evil cruel punk must be chained securely to a sturdy metal pole with no means for escape, outside and he must be naked. Animal cruelty/murders etc CANNOT be tolerated any longer. It is well past time for the laws that are there but not enforced and new laws be EVERYWHERE and STRICTLY ENFORCED… IN MY OPINION

What took the authorities so long!it seems like they mmight be getting a kick back from the puppy mill. They should be investigated too. They allowed the abuse to continue. Bring the people involved to book too! This is disgusting!

No one should have any animal if they cannot provide a safe home for them. These backyard puppy mills should be shut down in every state and territory. It is cruel and abusive to these living, breathing dogs. These low-life scumbags only want the money and many times the dogs are not healthy and the new owners have to pay atrocious vet bills to make them healthy. Throw these bums in jail!

This is just despicable. Dogs feel the same things that us humans do – cold, fear, depression, deprivation of food, water and affection, and TRAUMA. This is inexcusable and unacceptable. This person has no feelings, compassion or empathy for other living beings. He should not be allowed to own animals again.

Simple: just lock him in a small crate (one made for a medium/large dog would work…). Put some frozen water in a bowl and place his crate outside; just leave him there. Let him have the same fate he IMPOSED to these INNOCENT, VOICELESS creatures. IF he survives, throw him in a laboratory for researches: free the animals used for this purpose. This POS doesn’t deserve to live. Let him enjoy his worthless life as he thinks other beings should live. 😉
Make Mr Jones spend a day and night in that kennel. Then send his stupid self to prison. HE MURDERED that innocent sweet baby. Cause the other dogs pain and suffering.
