Target: Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons
Goal: Do not allow trail hunting that illegally targets protected animals.
Chris Packham, an anti-hunting advocate in England, was recently the victim of an explosion outside his home. He was unharmed, but the attack represented the latest violent incident directed at him. He has reportedly had several deceased animals placed outside his property. Despite the disturbing turn of events, Packham still stands strong against a practice he claims is widely used and abused across the nation.
Trail hunting uses an artificial scent to hunt down wild animals. The practice has apparently been encouraged in the hunting of foxes, which is supposed to be illegal. Hunting any wild mammal with a dog also falls under the illegal category, yet hunters are allegedly making use of trail hunting to carry on these kills as well. In fact, a prominent hunter was busted after allegedly encouraging followers to use these hunts a s a “smokescreen” for illicit activity. Hunters cannot continue taking advantage of loopholes to slaughter vulnerable animals.
Sign the petition below to urge a wholesale ban on this increasingly deadly practice.
PETITION LETTER:
Dear Sir Hoyle,
The National Trust recently announced it would stop issuing permits for trail hunting on its lands. This important action may never have occurred if a high-profile hunter was not caught reportedly encouraging the misuse of this activity for illegal hunts. To date, trail hunting as a “smokescreen” has already likely been responsible for countless slaughters and the willful flaunting of the law.
The laws themselves need to adapt to eliminate these destructive loopholes. Please do everything in your power to abolish trail hunting and its damaging effects from the United Kingdom once and for all.
Sincerely,
[Your Name Here]
