Stop Letting Dogs Languish and Die in Abusive Breeding Facilities

Target: Eric Schmitt, Attorney General of Missouri

Goal: Prosecute and penalize kennel operators and breeders accused of harming countless dogs.

Multiple dogs were found dead at a McDonald County, Missouri breeder’s property. The breeder had apparently refused to let state Department of Agriculture officials inspect the property for over a year, and these officials seemingly did nothing in the interim. Over in Hickory County, Missouri, Cridder Creek Kennel owners reportedly flaunted a judgment banning them from breeding animals. When a task force finally rescued dogs from the premises, officials said “the severe neglect that these poor animals suffered is abhorrent and inexcusable. We will do everything in our power to ensure the rescued dogs are rehabilitated and given a second chance at a happier life.” Their alleged abusers received a fine and were once again ordered to close their doors. No further criminal penalty was mentioned.

For the past decade, Missouri has topped a notorious list of states with deplorable puppy mills. The state’s lackadaisical response to cases of suspected animal cruelty against dogs highlights that something is broken in the regional system. Only true and serious reform can reverse this tragic trend.

Sign the petition below to demand Missouri’s attorney general start pursing animal cruelty cases involving kennel operators and breeders with much stronger vigilance.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Attorney General Schmitt,

McDonald and Hickory Counties were recently sites of massive animal rescues from allegedly negligent and abusive kennel operators and breeders. In both of these cases, the law enforcement and legal systems had lengthy prior knowledge of suspect activity. In fact, a court settlement had already taken place in one of the cases…a settlement seemingly willfully violated. This complete lack of enforcement of Missouri’s animal cruelty laws is one of the primary reasons why this state has earned the dishonor of the nation’s biggest and worst puppy mill production.

Animals should not have to die before real action is taken. These individuals are reportedly breaking the law, endangering innocent living beings, and getting away with a fine and a slap on the wrist time and again. Please make criminal charges with real jail time and real consequences a centerpiece of this state’s effort to safeguard animals from gross negligence and unchecked abuse.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

  1. Your blind eye to the innocents suffering in your state is unconscionable! How can any of you be aware of what’s happening to these poor dogs and not do anything about it? You are despicable people in Missouri! DO YOUR JOB & PROTECT THESE INNOCENT DOGS! PUT THE PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE FOR THESE ATROCITIES IN PRISON

  2. Kathleen+I+Nagy-DeRosa says:

How many more animals have to die for your state to take action and follow through? The number of animals allowed to be abused, maimed, starved, etc is despicable. Step up, do the right thing, and become the voice for those that have none. Stop talking about it and get it done once and for all. Shut down those puppy mills. Think about the animals for once, not the abusers cashing in on their misery.

  3. TIME TO END THESE OUTRAGEOUS PUPPY MILLS AND BACKYARD BREEDERS ONCE AND FOR ALL

  4. Puppy mills and backyard breeders must be put out of busy forever. The animals are suffering and anyone that buys from them are also suffering. These so called people don’t care about anything but money. Greed is keeping this cruel act going.

  5. Once again animal abusers got off easy. Where is the jail time? Where is the ban on owning and breeding any other animals for life. You people deserve the lowest ranking there is. If this was in my hometown they would be locked up and banned from breeding or owning any other animals. You just don’t give a damn.

  6. YOU EVIL SADISTIC MONSTERS!!!!~! I PRAY YOU ARE CAUGHT AND PUNISHED TO THE MAX!!!~!~!

END ALL PUPPY MILLS AND BACKYARD BREEDERS!!!!!!!!

Puppy mills and irresponsible breeders have no place in our society.

  9. There should not be backyard breeders or puppy mills in any state. They are nothing but cruelty to these poor dogs. No living creature should be treated so poorly. These people are nothing but trash.

  10. MICHAEL BAVARO says:

THOSE WHO LET THIS HAPPEN, INCLUDING ALL GOVERNMENT AND LOCAL OFFICIALS SHOULD BE LEFT STARVE AND DIE IN JAIL.

  11. Ann-Marie Humphried says:

Puppy mills must be shut do an forever. The parents of these puppies are kept in small dirty cages never to touch the green, never to run and play joyfully, never to feel the warm, kind touch of their own human! These breeders are cruel and inhumane. For instance the Amish puppy mills will shove a metal pipe down the barking dogs throats to mutilate the vocal cords. Puppy mills deny veterinarians care to parent animals. Most die because of lack of proper care.I’M PLEADING WITH ALL LAW MAKERS TO VISIT THESE (do not contact the breeders first) ,make sure you have a warrant. Most will deny you access to their inhumane facilities!!! If you have any feelings towards your own furbaby you will do this to make sure the future of all these innocent furbabies will be bright and given the proper loving care they deserve. It will help stop the breeding of unwanted puppies (dogs) from being strays in up in high kill shelters!!! Please visit these puppy breeding facilities and Please include visiting factory farms.DO THIS WITHOUT LETTING THEM KNOW FIRST THEY ARE GREAT LYERS AND KNOW HOW TO CLEAN UP THEIR PLACES QUICKLY, INCLUDING THE MURDERING OF INNOCENT SICK BREEDING ANIMALS!Please visit and see for yourselves!!!

  12. Janette+Lands says:

This must stop all around the world. So called civilised countries all have their fair share of these greedy, monstrous people running cruel puppy farms. The problem is we don’t even trust our governments to do right by us let alone poor vulnerable animals. Absolutely sickening.

  13. Michelle Stewart says:

Puppy & cat mills must all be made illegal all over the world and all shut down. All animals must be seized, adopted out, and none of them are allowed to get their animals back. All kennels and mills must never be allowed to reopen anywhere in the world. The owners of these mills and kennels must each serve 8 years in prison with no early parole, and each pay a $800,000 fine for all the cruelty, neglect, suffering, and deaths

  14. These breeders have to be stopped; this should never have gone on as long as it has.

  15. A little return the favor would stop this horrific human behavior!!

  16. This kind of “Humans”Deseve to die. We don’t need people like them.

  17. With the millions of unwanted dogs and cats in this country that get euthanized a year, how the hell are breeding facilities still legal? It’s disgusting that puppy mills are even be permitted in the state!

  18. Please shut down all puppy mills and backyard breeders. Animals should be treated with compassion and care.

  19. CLOSE THOSE KENNELS WHO ABUSE THEIR DOGS AND PUT THE BREEDERS IN JAIL FOR MANY MANY YEARS. NO MERCY.
