Target: Alex Gorsky, CEO of Johnson & Johnson

Goal: Thank Johnson & Johnson for ending its cruel practice of cutting open and killing pigs.

It recently came to light that the popular company, Johnson & Johnson, has been cutting open and killing pigs in its laboratories to show sales personnel how its surgical medical device products work and what their purposes are. Thankfully, the company has now put an end to that practice.

After hearing the concerns of thousands of people from all over, including many from ForceChange, Johnson & Johnson announced that it “has discontinued live animal use in sales training across our North America region. Further, we are working to discontinue this practice globally by December 31, 2016.”

Sign this petition and thank the company for making the compassionate change. Countless animals will now be spared from unnecessary pain and death.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Gorsky,

Recently, it was brought to the public’s attention that your company has been cutting open and killing pigs in order to show sales personnel how your surgical medical device products work. Many people were not happy with this practice considering pigs are gentle and intelligent animals who can experience pain and fear just like humans.

Instead of turning a blind eye to the public’s anger, you decided to address it by announcing that this practice will be discontinued internationally by the end of this year. Thank you for listening to the public and making the compassionate change. Countless animals will now be spared from unnecessary pain and death thanks to your actions.

Sincerely,

Well, this is a grudging thanks from me because as a medical company they should know better and have an animal ethics program in place, plus the fact that unless concerned citizens signed the petition, no one would have known and they would have continued this dreadful practice.

  2. Cynthia Mattera says:

Its about time companies think about the animals who suffer every day, being used for tests and training. This need to stop! Thank you J & J!!! Its a step in the right direction!

  3. Thank you for responding to the petition and stopping the suffering to these pigs, but respect and compassion should have been shown by you from the start, and not left to the concerned public who have to remind companies like you and all others who mistreat animals that they have feelings, pain and fear just like us.
