This previous ForceChange petition called for New York legislators to enforce a bill that would ban the sale of puppy mill dogs in pet stores and, thanks to increased support from animal activists throughout the country, the bill has passed New York lawmakers and now awaits the Governor’s approval. The Puppy Mill Pipeline Bill, when signed into law, will officially end the retail sale of dogs, cats, and rabbits in pet stores throughout New York State.
Most pet stores currently get their dogs from puppy mills. These unregulated breeding facilities are extremely inhumane, and workers treat dogs like they are breeding machines and not sentient animals. Dogs in these mills are typically housed in overcrowded, unsanitary cages which are much too small. These animals are denied access to proper veterinary care, food, and water, and aren’t adequately exercised or socialized, leading to anxiety and destriuctive behaviors later in life. Since pet stores are currently the main sources of revenue for puppy mills, this bill will also successfully contribute to the shutting down of these horrific puppy mill operations throughout the country.
Sign this petition to show our gratitute towards New York legislative officials who have passed this bill to end the corrupt sale of animals in pet stores. Animals are more than a source of income.

We at the ForceChange community would like to thank you for introducing and passing the Puppy Mill Pipeline Bill. Due to your efforts, the State of New York is closer than ever to prohibiting the sale of dogs, cats, and rabbits in pet stores and to shutting down puppy mills for good. This bill will also have many unintended benefits to the animal community–such as encouraging pet-seekers to look towards animal shelters, which are currently inundated with adoptable dogs and cats.

Waay to go New York, now if only all the states in the US would also do this it would reeduce the # of animals suffering in these hellish places.
God willing, more states will understand the horror that is involved with puppy mills and pet stores.. all pet store owners, employees and breeders should be put in jail.
