Target: Peter J. Weeks, District Attorney of Blair County, Pennsylvania
Goal: Ensure strict punishment for teenager charged with attempting to break a dog’s neck and causing severe injuries, if found guilty.
A 17-year-old from Altoona allegedly attempted to break the neck of a three-year-old pitbull named Bailey, striking her multiple times with a baseball bat. It is reported that this brutal assault left Bailey with a broken skull along with various lacerations across her body. Tragically, police also say they discovered another dog dead at the scene.
The Central PA Humane Society continually faces overwhelming challenges as they attempt to help animals, yet they lack the resources to respond to the increasing number of cases. The trauma endured by these innocent creatures, coupled with the emotional toll on the workers and volunteers at the shelter, highlights an urgent need for swift and decisive action to hold offenders accountable.
It is essential for the district attorney to impose appropriate penalties to send a clear message that behavior such as the alleged attack against Bailey will not be condoned. Immediate action is demanded to ensure justice for the animals affected and to prevent further tragedies from occurring in the future.
