StubHub: Stop Profiting From Bullfighting’s Torture of Animals

Target: Eric H. Baker, CEO of StubHub

Goal: End all bullfighting ticket sales worldwide and stop profiting from animal cruelty.

The time has come to demand an end to the barbaric practice of bullfighting, which is not only abusive but also declining in support. Societal opposition to this gruesome spectacle is growing, with 8 out of 10 Spaniards now rejecting the idea that bulls should be tormented and killed for entertainment. The horrific reality of bullfighting involves bulls being repeatedly stabbed with lances and banderillas before ultimately being killed by sword. This cruel tradition contradicts modern values of compassion and respect for animals.

Furthermore, numerous animals suffer similarly in other forms of entertainment that exploit their bodies and their rights. Elephants, camels, and horses used in tourist activities endure unreasonable hardships, including being deprived of food and shade while forced to work in extreme conditions. Investigations have shown workers whipping these animals mercilessly, showcasing the extent of the cruelty involved in tourism that uses animals for profit. The recent changes made by Michelin, which have encouraged the removal of such activities from their travel guides, highlight the necessity for all businesses, including StubHub North America, to reject practices that lead to animal suffering.

It is crucial that companies like StubHub uphold ethical standards and recognize their responsibility to promote humane treatment towards animals. The demand is clear: end all bullfighting ticket sales globally. By taking this stand, StubHub can align with the growing societal shift against animal cruelty and show a commitment to compassion in the face of suffering.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Baker,

The time has come for your company to take a definitive stand against animal cruelty by ending all bullfighting ticket sales worldwide. Bulls used for this sport are subjected to severe torment and suffering for mere entertainment, being stabbed repeatedly and ultimately killed in front of live audiences. This practice is not only inhumane but is also increasingly rejected by the public, with a significant majority of Spaniards opposing such spectacles. As an influential ticket retailer, your decisions greatly impact societal norms and perceptions regarding animal welfare.

Additionally, animals used for entertainment purposes, such as elephants and camels in tourism, face similarly horrific treatment. There have been numerous investigations highlighting the brutality of these practices, which involve animals being whipped and deprived of basic care while they toil under harsh conditions. As seen with Michelin’s recent removal of cruel animal-based tourist activities from their guides, there is a clear movement toward honoring animal rights and wellbeing that the public increasingly demands.

It is essential for StubHub to demonstrate leadership in this arena. By discontinuing sales of bullfighting tickets, you can contribute positively to ending animal cruelty and align your business with the compassionate values that consumers expect in today’s world. The time to act is now; please end all bullfighting ticket sales globally and stand against cruelty.

Sincerely,
