Stop Working Horses to Death

Target: U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson

Goal: Stop the exploitation and abuse of horses in tourism and racing industries to ensure their safety and well-being.

Horses are subjected to horrific conditions when exploited for tourism and racing, enduring severe mistreatment that cannot be ignored. In the U.S., these majestic animals are forced to navigate hazardous city streets, leading to significant stress and injuries, including painful hoof and joint damage. An average of 24 horses reportedly die each week on U.S. racetracks due to injuries inflicted during races.

Further compounding this tragedy is the misleading portrayal of horses in media, particularly in the use of emojis that celebrate racing without acknowledging the suffering these horses endure. Adequate reforms and protective laws must be enforced, not only to raise awareness but also to protect these horses from a life of servitude and suffering.

Action is imperative to honor horses in the Year of the Horse and beyond. It is essential to stop the exploitation in both the tourism and racing industries, ensuring that these animals can live free from fear and pain. The call for rigorous punishments and reforms is not just a demand for justice; it is a necessary step to safeguard the dignity and lives of horses everywhere.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Speaker Johnson,

The abuse and exploitation of horses for tourism and racing have reached alarming levels and demand immediate attention. Horses are whipped and beaten in tourist areas, subjected to extreme conditions, and forced to navigate busy streets, leading to injury and suffering. Additionally, the racing industry sees an average of 24 horses die each week due to catastrophic injuries sustained during races.

It is imperative to pass legislation implementing strict regulations and punishments to prevent the exploitation of horses in industries that prioritize profit over their well-being. Immediate action is necessary to ensure that we make meaningful changes and improve the lives of horses across the country.

Sincerely,
