Two Dogs Reportedly Left to Die in Car in Over 130-Degree Heat Deserve Justice

Target: Timothy J. Cruz, Plymouth County,  MA District Attorney

Goal: Ensure appropriate punishment for those allegedly responsible for the tragic deaths of two dogs left in a hot car.

Animal cruelty must not go unpunished, as evidenced by the heartbreaking case involving a mother and daughter in Bridgewater, whose alleged negligence resulted in the agonizing deaths of two dogs. Lisa and Rachel Smith are facing charges after allegedly leaving these innocent animals confined in a car with the windows closed and the air conditioning off for over 90 minutes on a sweltering day. The temperature inside the vehicle reportedly reached a staggering 130 degrees, leading to a tragic and entirely preventable demise for these dogs.

The investigation reportedly revealed that not only were the dogs left to suffer in extreme heat, but they also lived in unsanitary conditions at the Smiths’ home. The police and animal control have stated that no pet should endure such suffering, and this case is a stark reminder that there are consequences for such irresponsible actions towards animals in our care.

This petition demands that the District Attorney pursue full accountability for the alleged animal cruelty exhibited by the Smiths, which has led to the painful loss of lives that should have been cherished. It is crucial that individuals who exhibit such disregard for the well-being of animals face appropriate legal repercussions to prevent future tragedies of this nature.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear DA Cruz,

The recent news of the tragic deaths of two dogs in Bridgewater, allegedly as a result of extreme neglect by Lisa and Rachel Smith, demands immediate action. These individuals reportedly left the dogs in a hot vehicle for over an hour and a half, resulting in a temperature inside the car soaring to at least 130 degrees. This horrific act of apparent cruelty must not be taken lightly.

Moreover, the revelation that these dogs were allegedly subjected to unsanitary living conditions only adds to the shocking nature of this case. It is crucial to send a clear message that such neglect will not be tolerated in our communities.

We respectfully urge you to ensure that appropriate legal penalties are imposed on the Smiths for their alleged actions and to advocate for the well-being of animals in our society. The accountability of those responsible is paramount in preventing similar tragedies in the future.

Sincerely,
