Dogs Reportedly Attacked With Hammer and Thrown Out Like Trash Deserve Justice

Target: Jason Walsh, District Attorney of Washington County, PA

Goal: Ensure appropriate punishment for the man who reportedly tried to kill two dogs with a hammer and disposed of their bodies.

Reports of horrific animal abuse have emerged from North Strabane Township, where a man, Daniel McCullough, allegedly attempted to kill two dogs using a ball-peen hammer. On September 4, McCullough reportedly struck both dogs while their owner, Carol Shrader, was asleep. The dogs, named Rawhide and Tiny, were not just pets; they were cherished family members. McCullough is said to have placed their bodies in a box for trash pickup, demonstrating a complete disregard for their lives and dignity.

Further details of this distressing incident suggest that McCullough took these drastic measures under the pretense of adhering to a new rule in the trailer park, which allowed only two dogs per household. Rawhide’s body tragically ended up lost in the trash, while Tiny managed to survive, escaping her fate and finding refuge in the arms of a compassionate neighbor, Charles Burnsworth. Tiny is now recovering and living in a loving home, but the haunting question remains: How could such cruelty occur?

This case of alleged animal abuse demands urgent attention and action. The apparent horrific treatment of these innocent animals must not be overlooked. It is essential to hold those who commit such acts accountable to prevent further cruelty and ensure justice for the victims. Appropriate punishment for McCullough is necessary to convey that brutality against animals will not be tolerated in our community.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear DA Walsh,

The case of Daniel McCullough inflicts a chilling reminder of the realities of animal cruelty, as he allegedly pursued the brutal killing of two dogs, Rawhide and Tiny, with a hammer. This egregious act of violence, if true, showcases a disturbing level of disregard for the lives of these animals. McCullough’s purported rationale, based on enforcing a restrictive trailer park policy, is utterly unacceptable and only highlights the need for serious legal repercussions.

The fact that one of the dogs, Tiny, was fortunate enough to be rescued does not negate the horror that Rawhide faced, whose body was callously disposed of as trash. Such cruelty deserves not only condemnation but also firm prosecutorial action.

It is imperative that the full extent of the law is applied to McCullough, serving as a strong message that animal cruelty will not be tolerated. We urge you to pursue the maximum penalties under the law for the alleged acts committed against these innocent dogs. Please take immediate action to ensure justice is served for Rawhide and Tiny.

Sincerely,
