Target: Ben Fryar, BYU- Idaho,
#animaltestingswitch
We need help convincing professors and school officials that more of the university funds need to be put into alternative methods to animal testing on campus.
Our goal is that, with the help of this petition, new opportunities will be created for the students and professors at BYU-Idaho involved in scientific research to make progress in the scientific world through the fostering of animal testing replacements, rather than animal testing. Because of these new efforts, there will no longer be a need for animal testing.
Like a multitude of other universities, BYU- Idaho has being conducting research using lab rats. Sadly, though, each rat dies at the end of the study because the results of each treatment must be recorded for the research data part of the scientific literature.
Because of certain research standards required by the government for all accredited institutions, live animals tend to be the most readily accepted because of they have real brains, and because of the fact that it isn’t human testing.
Keep this in mind. Careful steps are taken at the university to make sure that the care of these animals is as humane and kind as possible. The professors and students involved go through extensive training to provide the most painless, gentle experience possible for the rats. Not to mention, this research is a part of a course full of students far along in the progression of their degrees.
Because of the university’s ethical standards, mission, and purpose, we know that alternatives to animal testing will surely fulfill each of these for our school.
Please sign this petition today for a bigger, brighter tomorrow!
Much love,
the Rexburg Vegan Society
