Heroic Dog Apparently Set on Fire and Left to Die Deserves Justice

Target: The Honorable Josh Stein, Governor of North Carolina

Goal: Ensure appropriate legal consequences for the abuse of animals like Susie, a dog believed to have been purposefully set on fire.

The story of Susie, a dog who allegedly endured horrifying abuse as a puppy, serves as a critical reminder of the urgent need for accountability in cases of animal cruelty. Apparently set on fire and left with severe burns, broken bones, and a shattered spirit, Susie survived against all odds to become a symbol of resilience and hope. Her case, which ignited public outrage, spurred the creation of “Susie’s Law,” which was enacted in North Carolina to impose harsher punishments for animal abusers. However, the recent announcement regarding the dissolution of Susie’s Hope, the nonprofit organization dedicated to animal welfare that arose from Susie’s story, highlights the ongoing challenges faced in animal rescue and protection.

Despite the establishment of legislation like Susie’s Law, many cases of animal cruelty still go unpunished or are met with insufficient legal responses. Susie’s case, in which her abuser received only probation, underscores the need for stricter enforcement of animal protection laws. The continued prevalence of animal suffering suggests that more needs to be done to ensure justice for the voiceless creatures who depend on humans for their safety and well-being.

It is crucial that the state of North Carolina takes a stand against animal cruelty and holds accountable those who perpetrate such heinous acts. Urge Governor Stein to allocate resources to prevent future tragedies and foster a culture of compassion and respect for animals throughout the state.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Governor Stein,

The case of Susie, a dog whose alleged horrific abuse sparked a movement for animal rights in North Carolina, illustrates the critical need for stronger enforcement of animal cruelty laws. Reportedly set ablaze at just ten weeks old, Susie’s journey from victim to hero had a profound impact on animal welfare legislation, such as “Susie’s Law.” Unfortunately, the leniency shown to her abuser, who was sentenced to probation, demonstrates a concerning gap in the judicial system’s response to the cruelty endured by helpless animals.

The alleged abuse that Susie suffered is not an isolated incident; many animals continue to face similar threats. As noted by advocates within the community, cases of animal cruelty often go unpunished, fostering an environment where abuse is tolerated rather than condemned. It is imperative to establish a more robust legal framework that ensures all animal abusers are held accountable for their actions, creating a deterrent for similar acts of cruelty and protecting those without a voice.

This petition calls upon the State of North Carolina to take decisive action in strengthening laws and penalties related to animal cruelty in North Carolina. By enforcing stricter consequences for offenders, the state can show its commitment to protecting vulnerable animals and honor the legacy of Susie, who overcame unimaginable suffering to serve as a beacon of hope and resilience. Support the mission to promote kindness toward all animals and ensure justice for those who are seemingly forgotten.

Sincerely,

The BEST part of those PERVERTS rolled down their old man’s leg…… UNTIL the sadistic bastards GET by the court system the SAME punishment NOTHING…..and I MEAN NOTHING willl change for the animal population no matter how many petitions are signed …. AN EYE for a EYE…..

  2. McKenna Gnau says:

Lawmakers— you need to do more for the animals. By not enacting more protections for animals, lawmakers you are complicit in the abuse. And judges— you are also complicit the abuse of these animals when you sentence an animal abuser to merely probation. That is it? That is disgraceful, and you need to do better. Probation? Do you even care about the animal who was tortured? Shameful. There is NEVER an excuse for animal abuse. Do better for the animals, and for us, the constituency who is against harm.

  3. Nobody is above the law. Animals are sentient beings and their lives do matter alot too. Protect them and make animal abuse a federal felony! Please do no let Susie die in vain.

  4. Set the bastard on fire and get rid of him

  5. Any monster that abuses an animal should have the exact same thing done to it. The pos that did that to Susie should have been set on fire!!!! Probation!! Are you kidding??? Maybe the judges & lawmakers should be forced to leave their kids with these animals

  6. The problem here is that our government which includes all agencies are not following God’s law. Thank God our new president is putting God back in our country. In the bible, it says if you rape or murder whether it be a human or an animal, you put them to death and send them to God to be judged. God does not take kindly to people destroying and abusing his creations and that means all creations.

That is why we have so much crime because our laws are so laxed and do not follow God’s law.

And as long as these animal abusers are just going to get a little slap on the wrist and allowed to go get more animals well this is just going to keep continuing over and over and over again and it’s all just a vicious cycle.

Animal abusers should get just as much time in jail as any human being that hurts another human being it’s no different.

If I were the judge and if I could I would put this man to death.

  7. APPARENTLY set on fire????!!!! This sweet angelic puppy did not set itself on fire!!!!!!! Broken bones and scars at only 10 weeks old!!!!????? Get the sick individual that committed such vile actions against this Angel and ensure this demon is surrounded by animal lovers in prison or psych ward.

    • This bastard is apparently out in probation!
Well, if so, hows about a few Animal Activists to locate this turd, douse the fucker with gasoline, flick a match and see if the sod thinks that it is funny!!
This is the only way these nasty pricks will see what pain is all about. And maybe——just maybe they would think twice before torturing animals again.
But seriously, the only way most of these shitbags will stop is not IF – but WHEN the buggers are DEAD. An ‘eye for an eye’ as the good book says, is what will stop these animal torturing and murdering bastards permanently!!

  8. Many of our so called lawmakers are weak, spineless cowards who only care about keeping their jobs.

    • Exactly, these so-called ‘lawmakers’ and Judges are scared of the perps! So give them a derisory sentence which is sweet F.A.
The only way that will stop these animal torturing sods is reinstating capital punishment. And that goes for any heinous crimes around the world. Until this happens by law or vigilante justice, worldwide crime and animal torture WILL continue!!

Roy Cooper is no longer Governor of NC.
Josh Stein is our new Governor.
I had the great honor of meeting Susie years ago at a protest downtown Raleigh in front of the courthouse where another animal animal abuser was on trial.

  10. God forgive me, all I want is for whomever did this to suffer incredibly!

  11. The Dumb B**** that did this, must be a soon to be organ donor 💥👈

  12. An eye for an eye!!!!!!!!!!!! Return the favor!!!!!!
Justice systems worldwide are FAILING MISERABLY!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS AN URGENT MATTER THAT NEEDS IMMEDIATE ATTENTION!!!!!!!!! AND YES I AM YELLING!!! INNOCENT LIVES ARE TORTURED BY CRAP COWARD HUMANS AND YET JUSTICE STILL DOES NOT STEP UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. Rebecca Risher says:

Don’t expect Democrat Gov Cooper to do anything. After all he has turned his back along with BIDEN HARRIS on NC victims of HELENE. The NC LEGISLATURE IS WHO MUST ENACT ENFORCABE FIRST DEGREE FELONY LAWS WITH SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES WITH MANDATORY PRISON FOR ANYONE IN NC ABUSING ANIMALS IN ANY MANNER WHATSOEVER. WE PASSED LAWS IN SC YRS AGO. ONE GUY GOT 33 YRS FOR DOG FIGHTING. NC has zero enforced laws. The VOTERS MUST LET LEGISLATORS AND THOSE RUNNJNG FOR OFFICES KNOW YOU DEMAND THIS LAW BE PASSED.

  14. Our new Gov. Josh Stein needs to step up to the plate and make sure animal abuse is well defined by the law, for these scumbags that think animal abuse is a game. Protect the animals that can’t protect themselves !!!!

  15. Oh, the evil on this planet…words aren’t enough.

  16. You must kidding that you think trump is “putting God back in our country.” And somehow because of him animal abusers will be punished? He doesn’t even like animals. He’s never had a pet. The judge and the DA in this case failed miserably. What a disgrace, that poor dog.

    • The LAST thing on that “President” POS mind is HUMANITY for anything and anyone! It is becoming obvious that it is going to have to be up to us citizens to enact justice on animal abusers. Escpecially in NC! Not only be their voice, but now we have to be their muscle!
Also, we are supposed to have a Director of Humane Society. Where the hell is she? Why isn’t she rallying citizens to go to the Legislative bldg to fight for strictor laws and real enforcements?

  17. RITA VAN EECKENRODE says:

ARE ALL THE PEOPLE IN THE USA SUCH ANIMAL ABUSERS? I THINK SO WHEN I READ ALL THIS. TAKE ALL THOSE MONSTERS AND SET THEM ON FIRE TOO. NO MERCY AND ALL.

  18. No animal deserves to be a victim of DEHUMANIZED, DESENSITIZED and MENTALLY-DERANGEED SADISTIC PSYCHOPATHS!! NO animal-abuser should get away with such horrific crimes.
LAWMAKERS, stop these crimes by establishing harsh punishments for animal abuse! It’s your duty as humans.
Tormenting, neglecting and killing animals has a brutalizing effect on our society and mankind as a whole.
These pathological monsters must be severely punished. They must also be forbidden from coming near animals ever again.

MAX JAIL or DEATH PENALTY for ALL these highly pathological and sadistic scumbags!

  19. An eye for an eye for sadistic animal abusers. Until they are severely punished, abuse will continue. These bastards do not deserve to live. Something POSITIVE HAS TO BE DONE.

  20. UncommonSensesc says:

The evil piece of shit that horribly, horribly abused that poor little puppy is Lashawn D. Whitehead from Greensboro, NC! He had beat the puppy breaking her jaw, knocked out her teeth, doused her with gasoline and set her on fire! Guess what I’d like to do to that son of a bitch! He doesn’t deserve to be taking up good air! A taser, some rope, a tree, a Karma bat, some gasoline and a lighter and that bastard is buzzard food!

    • You and me both Bro. And I can guarantee that this bastard would never torture any animal ever again.
Am I for real in what I say? You bet your bottom dollar that I am!!!!!
