Target: City of Mesa Court, Police department, policy makers to strengthen az laws for justice for animals,
It started with a plea on nextdoor of a woman desperately trying to find her indoor cats after her ex bf stole them while she worked and then told her he dumped them outside somewhere. The search started in the nearby desert but then the carriers were found 3 miles away broken near a park. Many animal rescuers arrived and combed the area, night and day, leaving food and water out just in case at the park. But they weren’t found. He then tells her that he killed the cats because he was mad at her and she believes him, but the rescuers continue to search. Fast forward to him violating his restraining order and being questioned about killing the cats, he finally admits that he left them at a public self service storage parking lot with no shade behind a locked gate with no chance of anybody finding them. Rescuers rush there and by the grace of God they found Zeus. But he’s in distress, and he was rushed the emergency hospital with 108° temperature and burns. So then the search focused in on the little girl, the long haired Siamese but unfortunately she was already dead, we were too late. We don’t have an update on whether or not Zeus has made it through the night. He did all of this because he wanted to inflict emotional and psychological pain on his ex. He tortured these cats, cooking them in unimaginable heat. Mesa is part of the Phoenix metro area and this is July. It doesn’t get any more brutal outside, concrete heats up all day long and becomes hotter than the ambient air. You literally can fry an egg on it. These cats had no escape. There were no trees to go in. There were no bushes to hide in. There was no water anywhere. They had no escape.
Arizona doesn’t have very good animal protection laws. We are way too lenient on animal abusers and Killers and we want that to change. We think there were multiple felonies in this. Sign to make sure they prosecute him for all of them.
