Target: Cynthia Zimmer, Kern County District Attorney

Goal: Demand the maximum penalty for an animal trainer accused of abusing and neglecting eleven dogs.

A 22-year old woman and resident of Bakersfield, California has been arrested after 11 dogs were found dead during an investigation of ‘intense odor’ complaints. The suspect, Annie Schreiber, apparently opened an unlicensed animal boarding and training business. When police arrived on scene, they reportedly discovered the 11 dead dogs, as well as 29 seemingly neglected dogs and three cats. All surviving animals were taken to Animal Control and are being redistributed to their rightful owners.

In addition to the 11 counts of felony animal abuse, Schreiber faces 10 misdemeanor counts of abandonment of a dog or cat, 20 misdemeanor animal cruelty counts, and 26 counts of illegally operating a kennel without the proper permit to do so. She is currently held on $250,000 bail.

Sign this petition to demand that Annie Schreiber is prosecuted at the full extent of the law. She deserves both jail time and a fine for her allegedly despicable behavior that potentially resulted in the deaths of 11 innocent dogs.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear District Attorney Zimmer,

After receiving complaints about ‘intense odors’ coming from a house belonging to Bakersfield, California resident Annie Schreiber, police reportedly found 11 dead dogs, as well as 29 severely emaciated dogs and three cats. Schreiber had apparently been illegally running an animal boarding and training business without proper permits, and seemingly neglected her responsibilities in caring for these animals that were entrusted to her. Surviving animals have since been taken to local Animal Control and are being returned to their rightful owners.

Schreiber has been arrested and, in addition to the 11 counts of felony animal abuse for the dead dogs found on her premises, she also faces misdemeanor counts for abandoning dogs and cats, animal cruelty, and illegally operating an unpermitted kennel.

We are asking you, Mr. Newsom, to please make sure Annie Schreiber is prosecuted to the maximum extent for her alleged crimes.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
