Protect Animals at Shelter Where Injured Puppy was Stolen

Target: Justine Hickey, Chairperson of RSPCA Queensland

Goal: Enforce stronger security at RSPCA Queensland to prevent more animal thefts.

A four-month-old puppy named Cashew was stolen from RSPCA in Queensland by a man wearing a clown mask during early hours in the morning. The ordeal was caught on camera and showed the man in the mask forcing his way into the place and using a weapon to break into the cage. The RSPCA is calling the event “traumatic,” especially because Cashew had just received surgery and was in a fragile condition at the time of the break-in. Thankfully, she has been found, although she required additional medical attention after her rescue.

It is wonderful that Cashew is back and safe. She will now be able to receive the medicine needed to get healthy after her surgery. The man seen on camera has not been found, but authorities say they are still searching for him. Although this is a story with a happy ending, it is crucial to demand stronger security so this can never happen again. The puppy went through a traumatic event when she needed medical attention to recover. Having stronger security through all hours of the night can reassure the public that the animals are being taken care of and their safety is first. Call on the RSPCA Queensland to enforce this stronger security to keep all of their animals safe and sound.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Chairperson Hickey,

After Cashew was stolen and put through a traumatic experience, it is crucial to enforce stronger security at RSPCA Queensland. No puppy should have to go through an ordeal like this. Cashew was in need of medicine and veterinary care at the time of being stolen. Thankfully, she was brought back safely and is now recovering. We demand RSPCA Queensland enforce stronger security at all times to ensure this never happens again.

Sincerely,

    put the man in jail

  2. And that’s one of the reasons why NO animal shelter, or vet clinic either, should EVER leave animals overnight without any staff present. Would a human shelter or hospital send all staff home overnight and leave THEIR patients unsupervised and unmonitored, ESPECIALLY after surgery, where they could even die because of THAT? NO! Then such laissez-faire attitudes about animals are ALSO unacceptable and totally unethical in the animal field! Additionally, many SPCAs everywhere are either fully or partially GOVT-funded, so there’s even less excuse for not hiring at least ONE overnight employee to watch over and safeguard them!

    • You are absolutely correct. It is unfathomable that a staff employee was no delegated to stay overnight. Could you imagine a hospital leaving patients without a nurse on duty. Anything could happen when care is not available. I hope his was a lesson learned!!

I completely agree. The guy who broke in was probably connected with a dog fighting group. I would like to know how they found him so quickly???? There is incomplete information about the case.

    • I agree 100%.All animal shaelters require a stff employeee to be present 24/7.Tghe vile mentally deranged scumbag who roke into the animal shelter requires extermination and nothing less.

First off, I agree there should always be a person there 24/7 @ any animal facility, to keep watch over the animals that are there, for both their safety, and for their well being, in case of a medical emergency.Security cameras should be abundant and visible, as well as some hidden, to deter anybody from any type of foul play, and so any perpetrator can be easily identified, charged, and prosecuted. I know I would never leave a pet of mine @ any facility who did not have ample and necessary security provisions in place!

  6. Do something about pos. And DO SOMETHING ABOUT UKRAINES ANIMALS IN BOMBED PLACES.

ENSURE THIS NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN. YES, THERE SHOULD BE SOME ONE THERE 24/7 IN CASE SOME ANIMAL NEEDS CARE!!!!!” MUST QUICKLY LOCATE INJURED PUPPY,,,PUT EVIL BEING IN JAIL HE IS CLEARLY A CRIMINAL……

  12. This CRUEL IDIOT NEEDS TO RECEIVE EXACT TORTURE AS THIS INNOCENT PUPPY GOT!!!!

  13. Carolyn J Paurowski says:

First of all, there should always be a person or persons guarding all the animals, and monitoring the sick animals as well at this shelter 24/7. They should also have much more security and cameras as well to protect this place.

Second this kidnapper probably was from a dog-fighting ring as someone else suggested, or is someone who abused this dog and/or other animals – This person should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, and their credentials should be investigated to check for previous crimes. They should be stiffly fined, and jailed for this kidnapping! This dog could have turned up abused and dead (what makes it worse is it’s vulnerable state). Please Pursue And Punish This Kidnapper ASAP!

  14. Heather Davis says:

People are so evil sometimes 🙁

  15. STRONGER SECURITY must be established to keep all of your animals safe and sound. Next time some animals may be stolen and bestially murdered by the sadistic psychopaths. Animals shall NOT be VICTIMS of human neglect.

  16. G Featherston says:

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was an inside job, the clown mask creep being tipped off. It’s very important to thoroughly check the background and references of staff and particularly volunteers.

  17. NEVER should have happened in the first place!! There should be someone there 24/7 because these poor souls have already been through enoug!

  18. MICHAEL BAVARO says:

    GET BETTER SECURITY.

  19. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE??? AND WITH A MASK? WAS THERE NO ONE OF THE SHELTER THERE?
