Goal: Do not euthanize deer that are populating a city park.
About 32 deer are living a peaceful existence in an urban park in Longueuil, Quebec. However, city officials say this is too many and plan on killing nearly half of them. 15 deer are slated to be euthanized despite public outcries to save the animals.
In a pathetic effort to justify their actions, the city mayor says the meat from these massacred animals will be given to food banks. The authorities also claim the deer threaten the local ecology and increase risks of Lyme disease, traffic collisions, and property damage.
Sign this position to urge the municipal authorities to relocate the deer from the city park, or find another alternative measure to the irresponsible slaughter of innocent animals.
PETITION LETTER:
Dear Mayor Parent,
I am disgusted that you are planning on euthanizing the deer that live in Michel-Chartrand Park. I understand that the whitetail deer might be causing damage to the park’s ecology and private property, but killing them is a woefully irresponsible course of action.
These animals should be relocated to a more suitable spot, which is a solution your government failed to properly investigate. If relocation is unfeasible then there are numerous other control methods to be undertaken such as sterilization.
It is a shameful abuse of power to think mass slaughter is the answer to wildlife in your city. I urge you to find an alternate course of action.

Yet another shameful act with Canada. Their first go to response towards other living beings living amongst humans is to kill them. They must consider it too much effort to seek other alternatives. The people making these decisions must be lazy and effortless politicians.
This is a heinous act especially toward innocent animals where humans invaded THEIR homes!!! Relocate them!!!
yes Amanda, I agree…..they are innocent animals that also need a home & since we have invaded their homes, can we not just relocate them so that they may continue to live and enjoy life…

The reasonings the city are providing as to why killing these peaceful and innocent animals is absolute nonsense. My family is from Nara in Japan where we have one of the largest parks in the city populated with MANY deer… definitely at least hundreds more than… 30. Way to overreact Sylvie Parent. There the deer coexist peacefully with the tens of thousands (at least) of people that visit the parks each year. There aren’t any traffic issues that occur as a result of the deer living there as they are intelligent beings and have adapted. Also, having been there many dozens of times, and closely interacted with the deer (as they are gentle, unlike humans), I never had Lyme disease. Nor has that been an issue for anyone that I know if there. In fact, the deer are now one of the main attractions for people to visit those parks. Get a heart Parent.

FIRST : it is NOT TRUE that DEER are dangerous & sickly — the DEER bring no harm nor danger — SECOND : let’s get some sanity, compassion & morality — there are alternative, humane ways in managing DEER society — we can spay & neuter along with relocation — REMEMBER, keep families intact — STOP the KILLING — STOP the cruel and unconscionable MURDERS.

This planet would be a lot better off without many humans. For those such humans; if any species interferes with their lives whether trying to exist in the areas that they roamed, but were bulldozed or if such humans enter into the wilderness; these warped individuals’ only solution is to kill those species off.
