Stop Animal Testing of Johnson & Johnson Products

Target: Johnson & Johnson CEO Alex Gorsky

Goal: End all animal testing not mandated by the federal government.

Johnson & Johnson is still doing unnecessary testing on animals as one of the largest healthcare companies in the world. The company produces a myriad of products in the healthcare sector including over-the-counter drugs, medical equipment, and other products.

While government regulations mandate certain tests to be conducted on animals for medical products, these companies do have flexibility when it comes to choosing the tests to ensure the safety and quality of a product. In fact, companies have the option of eliminating all tests on animals that are not mandated by government on agencies.

The testing of products on animals is likely to be painful and upsetting for creatures who have no choice in participating in these tests. Animals deserve to be treated with respect and dignity and this extends to when they are making the sacrifice of testing products to ensure out safety. While we can not prevent the corporation of Johnson & Johnson from testing on animals when it is mandated by government agencies, we can call on the company to immediately end the testing of animals when it is not delegated by the government.

Dear Alex Gorsky,

As one of the largest companies in the United States, Johnson & Johnson is uniquely situated to lead the way in cruelty-free production methods. As a consumer, I applaud your efforts so far in reducing animal cruelty though the testing of animals on your products. You have taken many steps in bettering the lives of animals. However, I believe that there is more that can be done in ensuring the safety and quality of life of these animals.

I know that as the CEO of Johnson & Johnson you are constantly trying to figure out how to increase the profit of your company. Immediately banning the testing of animals on products that is not mandated by the government could be a wise financial choice. Consumers are looking to make ethical and socially responsible decisions when buying products. Ridding animal testing when it is not completely necessary will attract consumers to your products.

Animals who test products are making sacrifices to ensure the safety of those who consume them. They deserve to be protected against unnecessary testing. I urge you to immediately ban all testing on animals when it is not mandated by the federal government.

  1. We need to keep pushing until more companies take the lead and chose cruelty free, then other’s will follow. In years to come it will no-longer be ethical or productive to test on animals, more people need to be educated in a sensitive way, as they will become defensive when their previous choices have been questioned.

  2. Johnson and Johnson, if you do not stop this cruel testing on animals, I (and many like me) will stop patronizing your products. I love Johnson’s baby powder, but I will switch to another brand if you do not stop this utter disrespect for animals!

  3. Ellis Toscano says:

I will not use their products until they confirm this.

  4. We need to give voice to those who have no voice

  5. I will not buy anything from this company until they stop torturing animals!
