Goal: Ban staged rescue videos that deliberately put animals in danger.
Millions of animal supporters have been deceived into watching staged videos of animal cruelty. Worse yet, these sick videos are being disguised as animal rescue endeavors. With YouTube banning this disgusting practice, Facebook has become ground zero for these acts of cruelty.
Major animal advocate organization Lady Freethinker launched an investigation into this horrifying trend at several social media sites. Specifically, sick individuals have apparently placed puppies, kittens, and other animals in dangerous and potentially deadly situations, all for the express purpose of “rescuing” these innocents and gaining some twisted form of fame. In one video, for instance, a young dog was allegedly placed within easy range of a venomous snake. On Facebook alone, such content has garnered millions of views and shares.
Sign the petition below to demand this media giant ramp up its oversight and punishment of deliberate animal cruelty posing under the guise of animal welfare.

Dear Mr. Zuckerberg,
Animal cruelty has found a new outlet for widespread distribution on Facebook. Social media platforms have experienced an alarming rise in posed, so-called animal rescue videos. The true origins and motivations behind these seemingly feel-good stories are often more menacing, however. Instead of being “rescued” by good Samaritans from dangerous circumstances, hundreds of animals are instead deliberately put in danger and exploited so that their abusers turned “rescuers” can get noticed.
Millions of Facebook’s faithful users who love animals and advocate passionately for them are unknowingly watching animal cruelty unfold before their eyes…all with Facebook’s apparent permission. Are view counts now worth the cost of an innocent’s life? Other outlets have taken decisive steps to end this sick trend, including launching investigations, working to change algorithms, and affirmatively banning this insidious content.
Please take similar action to cleanse Facebook of all animal cruelty.

I just don’t understand the stupidity of Facebook. So much animal abuse and cruelty is allowed. Why? Facebook is popular enough without cruelty, abuse, and stupid fake rescues. I believe those who endanger animals need to go to jail. And I believe Mark Zuckerberg should be in jail too because he is just as guilty for allowing this garbage to be posted.
Facebook can be a wonderful and entertaining thing but videos that show animals being harmed or put in any kind of situation don’t belong there. Imagine what kind of sick souls these types of videos attract. Get rid of these types of videos. Don’t ruin a good product at the expense of defenseless animals. Why don’t the people who post these use themselves as the targets for needing rescues?

Yes lady freethinker is wonderful. I just donated to a few animal organizations. There seem to be a lot now, and I want to be sure I know which ones are legitimate. I know lady freethinker is one of them. I pray they never give up helping all these precious animals.

The “fact checkers” and “truth police” need to do better to protect animals against the fake rescuers! Facebook is awful deleted years ago and Instagram is getting worse too!! As much as we love to see/hear good rescue story most now these days are staged and fake! Use common sense. Those that are real rescues are not taking the time to record the freaking rescue unless several people in the rescue group are present that are actually a rescue group or unaffiliated persons bc a good rescue wouldn’t withhold help or aid to record!
For instance 501c3 groups, and others on the ground day to day out saving animal lives in hoarding situations, abuse cases involving animal welfare ,floods,fires,kill shelters,and puppy mills. Groups that have the ability yes they do record but most of the time they DON’T but they do to show the inhumane situations, don’t get them confused Please! Many on Instagram are doing the same for instance The Dodo is swaying from thier practices where now they just just show any random story fake or not. A girl put several tiny kittens in an abandoned dilapidated building calling it a rescue distressing to the animals.

Well I really hope YouTube has dealt with it because I’ve seen several staged videos,all Asian,just in the last couple of weeks.It’s about time social media stepped up & stopped profiting from misery.

I am also for tracking the videos you do have so far, of these evil pieces of crap to prosecute. But first, let them suffer some street justice because the laws dont do diddly squat to any of them. Let a group of animal lovers be appointed to beat the crap out of them first, then have animal abuser/killer tattooed across their brainless foreheads, then give them their choice of which arm they want amputated as a reward for being the evil, heartless punks they are and then throw their useless asses in jail, feeding them nothing but bread and water for a month. Now those are punishments that would make a grown man cry. If the laws were more harsh and would truly enforce the punishment they gave these idiots, I know we can get rid of a lot of this cruelty. But no, laws are too lenient and could care less about animal issues. I blame the lawmakers as much. They are a stupid breed of people. People pretty much can take care of themselves.
