YouTube is profiting from animal cruelty. Videos of the abuse and torture of animals are on the rise in popularity, with dramatic consequences for the victims. An investigation on an online platform called “Lady Freethinker” published the shocking details of the promotion and encouragement of animal suffering.
Many of these disturbing videos violate YouTube’s own community standards, as well as U.S. and U.K. laws such as the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act. Nevertheless, the company condones videos of sentient beings suffering for human pleasure, including captivated and chained up monkeys and animals that succumb to injuries after being run over by vehicles. Additionally, the platform presents videos of dog- and cockfighting, animals that are eaten alive such as octopuses, staged videos where animals are put in life-threatening situations to be “rescued” live on camera, and numerous hunting videos that show illegal actions.
With over 1 billion views, these horrific videos might be worth $15 million for the people who post them and up to $12 million in advertising revenue for YouTube, based on an average cost per 1,000 views taken from a Business Insider survey. In the United States more than half of children between the ages of 8 to 12 watch online videos every day, mostly on YouTube. Animal cruelty videos convey a wrong message to kids and could have a traumatic effect on some.
The multibillion-dollar company YouTube has the responsibility to review and regulate the content on its platform. It has to step up to protect animals, children, and our society.
Sign this petition to urge YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki to implement a no-tolerance policy toward all animal cruelty, use a mechanism to discover videos with abusive content, and willingly remove any video in violation of this policy.

If You Tube continues to support and play these horrible sick videos then WE DON’T NEED YOU TUBE ANYMORE!!!! And we certainly don’t need weirdos who like these kind of videos have access to them. If You Tube can’t provide entertainment that enriches our lives or provides traditional entertainment then it has lost its use to the world.

Why have laws and policies if we aren’t going to keep them? Please be sure they will lose “customers” galore if this continues. There seems to really be no end to what sub-humans will do for entertainment and money. Since people cannot police themselves then they must be policed. The u-tube platform has got to stop promoting animal cruelty!!! Perhaps President Biden could get involved and just shut down these social media platforms all together!!

I have been on YouTube and fallen prey to these types of videos a few times over the past year or so. I had no idea what I was gonna see. The videos were so horrifying. Nobody should be able to post such content. I’ve signed petitions for Lady Freethinker. I had no idea they are posting such despicable things on YouTube, in order to obtain money. It most definitely needs to be stopped. YouTube, do your duty, and stop picking and choosing who you censor. I definitely won’t be opening any more of their emails anymore.
