Stop the Use of Pesticides That Kill Bees

Target: Patty Hajdu, Minister of Health Canada

Goal: Ban the use of neonicotinoid pesticides in Canada.

Neonicotinoid pesticides are commonly used in Canada, and these poisons are one of the main reason bees are dying. These pesticides have horrible effects on many insect species, but bees are particularly susceptible. In 2018, Health Canada made the commitment to ban two of the most common neonicotinoid pesticides used in the country. They have failed to uphold their promise and continue to allow their use.

They have implemented pathetic protocols that growers have to follow, but these protocols will not protect the environment or any insects. Canada has set extremely low standards, and their decision to allow pesticides of this nature shows no regards for environmental protection.

Sign this petition to encourage Health Canada to completely stop the use of  neonicotinoid pesticides as they originally promised, and help save bees around the world.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Honourable Hajdu,

I am very disappointed in Health Canada’s new decision to continue to allow neonicotinoid pesticides. It is shameful that you are backing out on your original promise in 2018 completely ban these toxic chemicals.

These pesticides have devastating effects on insects, and especially the ever-vital bees. I understand that your new “research” says otherwise, but even if there is a possibilty that neonicotinoid chemicals are killing bees, then it is your responsibility to act with certainty in favor of the threatened species.

I urge you to ban all neonicotinoid pesticides from Canada.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

LISTEN PLEASE: NEONICOTINOIDS KILL BEES. It’s simple. BAN THEIR USE NOW.

  2. Paula Morgan says:

Canada needs to know without bees our food system is doomed. How can industry thrive by killing off a valuable pollinator? We are working in the US to limit or end the use of such pesticides. It would be wise for Canada to do the same.
