Goal: Protect animals from starvation, neglect, and abuse.
Since 1892, the animal cruelty sections of the Criminal Code of Canada have not changed. Without laws to enforce punishment, many animal abusers in Canada are not stopped. Over the last few decades several bills were presented to parliament, but all were unjustifiably denied despite petitions that collected more than 100,000 signatures. Canada needs a new offense for the inadequate and negligent care of animals, wild and domestic. Currently it is not established as a crime to willfully cause unnecessary pain, suffering or injury to an animal or bird. Nor is it a criminal offense to intentionally or carelessly abandon an animal or neglect to provide food, water, air, shelter and care.
A new section in the Criminal Code for animal cruelty offenses must be enforced, and maximum penalties for animal abuse increased. We need to seek justice for animals that are victims of chronic hoarders, repeat abusers, puppy mill operators and dog fighting perpetrators. People in Canada have to be punished who purposely injure an animal or bird now.

Dear Mr. Trudeau,
In the Criminal Code of Canada, the animal cruelty sections have not changed since 1892. Animal abusers are not punished for their unspeakable cruel acts. Several bills were presented to parliament to enforce action against these cruel offenders, but were denied despite a public outcry. Canada needs to change the Criminal Code to stop animals from being brutally harmed. Neglecting to provide adequate food, water, air, shelter, and care is currently not recognized as a criminal offense. No person who willfully causes unnecessary pain, suffering or injury to an animal or bird is punished for their cruel actions.
Animals, wild and domestic, need to be protected from animal hoarders, repeat abusers, puppy mill operators and dog fighting advocates. Punishments for animal abusers must be increased to their maximum, and a new section in the Criminal Code for animal cruelty offenses must be made compulsory.
Change the law now. Punish animal abusers, and save the animals of Canada.

Animal abuse should not occurs – at all!! There are animal shelters that can safely take animals that are not wanted !! People who abuse animals should have the same type of abuse done to them – if this happens – then people MAY stop abusing animals!! People are disgusting!!!
Shame on Canada! Canada is a civilized country and one I have long admired. But to allow any and every type of animal torture is totally unacceptable. To all those who torture animals the place to be reincarnated must be Canada where they can pay off all debt abusers accrue. Being one of the countries which people f the world look up to demands Canada act in a way which people respect. Many poor countries treat their animals so much better than Canada. Please clean up your act with regard to these issues. Animals are living beings, feeling pain, fear, joy, and love. Please help them and punish those who would harm them.

Turning your back on this issue makes you just as guilty as if you committed the crime. Animal abuse is so rampant and has to stop. We need to educate people on compassion and punish those cowards who commit these heinous acts against ANY animal. Step into the 21st century and change those antiquated laws that serve no purpose.
The world is watching in horror and we will not look away. Canada, it’s past time to establish meaningful and enforceable animal welfare laws. It’s shameful and inexcusable that you haven’t already done so.

Canada seems to be notoriously cruel and abusive of animals. It is so backward in this and many other areas. Justin Trudeau doesn’t seem to care about much beyond his own benefits. The Canadian government needs to wake up to the needs of its people and animals.

Until the law’s change and penalties fit the crime’s committed by the many psychopath’s roaming the world getting away with murder of animal’s and in a lot of cases human’s, too!!! It will continue. Update the laws and make the penalties much, much harsher!
