Don’t Give Puppy Left Tied in Dangerous Heat Back to Accused Abuser

Target: Sheriff Mark A. Butler, Head of Animal Control for Warren County, Ohio

Goal: Remove puppy  from custody of owner charged with animal cruelty.

An Ohio animal control officer responding to a concerned call reportedly found a heartbreaking sight: a crying pit bull puppy just three months old. The distressed pup was allegedly attached to a cage outside a residence with a chain that only measured two feet long. The dog’s seeming inability to move at all was compounded by sweltering temperatures. If not for the officer’s intervention, this poor puppy may have met a tragic fate.

The puppy’s supposed caretaker, Jessica Deuley, faces animal cruelty charges. Yet the injustice for her alleged victim has apparently continued as she awaits a court date. While the puppy was initially taken into custody, he has since been returned to his accused abuser.

Sign the petition below to demand local officials put this potentially at-risk animal in assured safe hands.

Dear Sheriff Butler,

When a crying puppy reportedly forced to endure hot temperatures while affixed to a two-foot chain was discovered outside the residence of Jessica Deuley, authorities did the right thing. They ensured the dog’s safety and brought animal cruelty charges. Why, then, did you undermine these essential actions by putting this defenseless animal back in the hands of a woman accused of willfully endangering his life?

Until her actions are decided by a court of law, this woman should not have free access to any animal, let alone her alleged victim. You would not advocate returning a child to an environment where he or she could be abused or even killed. End the injustice and ensure this dog’s safety and well-being.  Honor your oath to protect this community’s animals from harm.

  1. That is great, give the abused animal back to the abuser – WTF??? She will likely take her feelings about being caught abusing the puppy out on the poor thing and the next time someone sees the little pup he’ll be dead. This is on the idiots who decided to let the pup go back to face certain abuse or death, they should be also be charged with animal abuse. Ohio, leading the way to making animal abuse an okay thing – psychos.

This is exactly why I hate living in this state full of ignorant animal abusing assholes, and no authority willing to stop any of it.

With all due respect, it would be insanity to return this sweet baby to this bitch of an abuser!! This animal needs to be PROTECTED from further abuse! Please revisit this abuse case. The owner is incompetent as far as caring for a pet. PLEASE, PLEASE remove this puppy from what must be a terrifying experience!

  4. This vile animal abusing bitch must have the mandatory death penalty performed. I am ready, willing and able to help perform this procedure!

  5. This disgusting abuser needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law under the PACT ACT!!!!

  6. Kathleen I Nagy-DeRosa says:

Before this stupid woman harms this innocent, HEALTHY puppy, rehome him. If she can do that to such a young dog and not care, what makes you think she will do better the second time? Don’t let this innocent soul become a statistic or an animal that will need extensive vetting and/or rehab due to abuse.

  7. Stop the bastard that abused and animal cruelty to this precious puppy and don’t give this innocent puppy back or even let the sorry scum have any animals ever.

  8. As a resident of Ohio, I am appalled and disgusted that this is happening. If the courts won’t step up and do their job, then maybe someone should do it for them. Clearly this poor innocent puppy needs rescued from this piece of trash.
